One of my all-time favorite Cute Girls Doing Cute Things series is finally getting the send-off that it so richly deserves!
In an announcement that hit the internet on Monday, January 18th, the production staff behind the series Kinmoza (Kiniro Mosaic) revealed that the series will get a movie this summer titled Kiniro Mosaic Thank you!!. The movie will feature a mostly returning cast and crew with the only notable exceptions to that being that a new director, Munenori Nawa, is taking over. The other notable change from the first two anime seasons is that Studio Gokumi will team up with another studio, AXsiZ, to produce the animation. Other than that, the cast and crew will remain the same as the previous productions.
Originally a four-panel manga from author Yui Hara, the series has been running in Manga Time Kirara Max magazine since June 2010 and has eleven collected volumes as of April 2020. The manga is being released in English by Yen Press, who have released ten volumes as of March 2020.
The series first received an anime adaptation in 2013, with a second season following that in 2015. Studio Gokumi produced both seasons and featured Tensho as director. Crunchyroll simulcast the series, and it was later picked up for a home video release by Sentai Filmworks.
The story for this absolutely dripping with sweetness series starts with a young girl named Shinobu going to England from Japan for a homestay. When she gets there, she meets a young girl around her age named Alice and they become best friends. Seriously, the scene where the two are forced to part ways the first time could cause the hardest of hearts to melt just a little.
A few years later, Shinobu gets a letter from overseas but she can’t read it so she doesn’t realize that she is about to be reunited with her friend from England as Alice is coming over to stay with her and transfer into her high school. Thus begins the silly, everyday adventures of Shinobu, Alice, and all of their friends.
