Summer usually means convention season and, while there are plenty of conventions that have gotten back to the status quo of holding them in person, plenty are still going the virtual route. That includes Crunchyroll Expo. While the Expo is just around the corner, information on new panels is still being released daily. One such panel will involve the cast and crew of last year’s breakout shonen anime, Jujutsu Kaisen.
Originally written in 2018, Jujutsu Kaisen follows the story of a young man named Yuji Itadori who becomes possessed by a Curse; a spiritual being created from humanities’ negativity and strengthened by magic, after eating a cursed talisman. Now it’s a race against time between the spirit that wants to possess him completely, the sorcerers that have no choice but to kill him by exorcising him, and Yuji and his newfound friends rushing to find the rest of the cursed talismans in order to cure him completely.
The anime adaptation was introduced last year and continues to grow in popularity, with fans eagerly awaiting the release of the series’ prequel Jujutsu Kaisen 0 when it releases this December.
Fans are also eager for a second season of the main anime, but between the news of author Gege Akutami’s health issues currently forcing the manga into hiatus, and the scandal over animation studio MAPPA’s working conditions and pay, fans just may have to wait until the heat dies down.
Either way, convention panels are always a great way for fans, cast, and crew to interact and connect with one another through a shared interest. The panel will be a great stopgap as fans wait for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 to release, and while the aforementioned issues may mean the cast and crew may have to answer some tough questions when it comes to the Q & A portion, there’s no doubt they’ll make it through with flying colors.
Crunchyroll Expo will take place in August from the 5th to the 7th. While the panel schedule hasn’t been released yet, notable guests include directors such as Ayataka Tanamura (Black Clover), voice actors such as Maaya Uchida (My Next Life as a Villainess), and Zeno Robinson (My Hero Academia), and bands Magic of Life and 7 Billion Dots. Signing up for the Expo is free on the Crunchyroll Expo website.
