Senpai stays home from school, sick with a cold. Nagatoro visits him and cares for him.
Episode – “So This is Your Room, Huh, Senpai?”
Hmm.
Senpai lives in a single-mother household, and there was no mention of his father. Could the father’s absence explain Senpai’s bullied past and lack of male friends in Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro? Without a male role model or mentor, Senpai would not have had the socialization skills to hang out with other boys. He’s good at video games, but I don’t see him using a chat feature. Remember, his first social media friend on his smartphone was Nagatoro! I’m happy that Senpai’s character has grown more confident after Nagatoro and her friends invaded his life. But he would have a healthier social life with some male peers. One or more guy friends would have bolstered his ego about his close relationship with the art club president. And they might have given Senpai some gentle masculine pressure to start dating Nagatoro already!
In Miss Nagatoro, the other male characters have always been a source of tension and stress. Senpai can’t even make eye contact with them! And the ones we have seen are the troublesome gyaru-oh types that even the gyarus don’t like. From a narrative perspective, this keeps Senpai at the center of his growing harem. That’s great for fan service and for making Nagatoro jealous about the other girls in Senpai’s orbit. The beach episode in the first season captured these elements perfectly. Especially when Gamo and Yosshii started stepping on Senpai too. When do we get another set of ridiculously sexy circumstances like that in the second season? Have Nagatoro’s friends already stopped teasing her possessiveness of Senpai? If they haven’t, I want to see one of them angle herself into holding hands or grabbing ankles. Hopefully soon!
Heh.
I’m still digging the aesthetic painting style in Miss Nagatoro’s scenic backgrounds. It’s too early in the morning, but Nagatoro wants to smack Senpai in the head! Oh, but not too hard. Nagatoro acts nicer because Senpai was nice to her in the last episode. Aw. Awkward teenage puppy love. Hoh. Is this the perfect time for Senpai to call Nagatoro by her first name? Be cool, and be smooth, Senpai! Chicken. Creepy chicken.
Ooh. The cute tug-on-the-sleeve maneuver! What is Nagatoro’s goal here? Toying with Senpai, of course! She read about how to act cutely on a girly fashion website. Number one, it worked, and number two, why is she reading about teen love advice? The sleeve tugging is the best in the love attack rankings. Senpai is a terrible liar. How will Nagatoro catch him out? And what will the ultimate backfire look like for Miss Nagatoro? Nagatoro wants that sleeve! Here we go! Handholding! So lewd, early in the morning! And just in time for the “Nagatoro Friends” to catch them!
Uh oh. Senpai caught a cold. Was it from Nagatoro? It looks like Senpai inherited his bushy hair from his mom. Where’s his dad? Senpai’s mom will come home late because of a business trip, so he’ll be alone all day. Nagatoro missed Senpai on her way to school. You know she’s coming over! Panicky Nagatoro! She called Senpai right away. Aw. Nagatoro worried she gave him her cold. She learned valuable information: Senpai is home alone!
Suddenly, Miss Nagatoro became a horror film. A scary face presses against a windowpane! Oh, it’s just Nagatoro acting like a creepy peeping Tom. Oh, that girl. No one would believe her tsundere act here. The art club president knew where Senpai lived. I wonder how that conversation between her and Nagatoro went. Nagatoro believes she has immunity to the Senpai virus! Oho. The first thing a prospective girlfriend needs to do in a boy’s room is the porn check! She knows exactly where to look for Senpai’s stashes. Enough playing. Senpai needs to rest and recover. Nurse Nagatoro will pamper him! Her forehead thermometer won’t take an accurate measurement because it will give him a higher fever. The eye-catchers cover Nagatoro’s gyaru invasion.
Nagatoro’s pampering continues in Miss Nagatoro. A cool head cloth and a homemade meal. Senpai’s fever deliria look like the future. Housewife Hayase has black cat slippers! Even Senpai knows this fantasy is creepy. Oops! He called Nagatoro by her first name! One more time, please. Can Nagatoro get back at him with a kiss? Ack! Senpai’s mom blocked her!
Miss Nagatoro cut to the morning. Did Nagatoro talk to Senpai’s mother on her way out? What happened? Mama Senpai wants all the details about her son’s cute kouhai! Nagatoro quickly left, but Senpai’s mom learned that she lives close now. How does Senpai feel about that? Then he remembered he called her “Hayase” yesterday! Bring on the awkwardness! Quick. Nagatoro defused that atmosphere with a kick to Senpai’s shorts. Eek! Senpai started the episode by catching Nagatoro’s hand. He grabbed something better this time and also snagged a peek at heaven! When did Senpai get a skin fang? The Nagatoro Friends caught them in the early morning act again. Holding hands and ankles… what creepy perverts! Nagatoro can call it judo practice if she wants.
Next time for Miss Nagatoro, Art Club President bares it all, and Nagatoro and Senpai go on a Christmas date.
Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro S2 (Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san 2nd Attack) streams on Crunchyroll and VRV.
