Episode 12 – “Talking Travel Tights”

Hmm.

It’s already been a year in the life of the hose wearing girls of Miru Tights. So quick! One thing I picked up on during the 12 episodes was how quickly the show moved past Summer and straight into the colder seasons. It’s easy to see why. We need cold weather to see tights indoors and for the girls to have more reasons to wear them.

As for the episode itself, it was a great bookend for the whole series. We’d actually been watching this scene of the girls planning their vacation trip the entire time in the end credits. This time, we finally got to see the glorious texture of the pantyhose. It was a fun and rewarding season finale in that regard.

This is special for the final episode – the title is at the beginning instead of during the credits.

We’re in Yua’s room, judging from that weird duck bear that Ren gave her for Valentine’s Day. The girls are planning a vacation trip, but there doesn’t seem to be a consensus. Ren has a pretty good idea. Stay in Japan, but visit a place with lots of foreign influence. The Dutch spent a lot of time trading in Japan during the mid-1800’s.

Pulling an all-nighter to decide a travel itinerary? Gotta have pizza!

Aw. Special closing credits scenes. The closing credits for the entire season have been of the girls planning their Spring Break. Homi’s defenseless sleeping face still cracks me up.

Yay! Travel montage! The camera still got the most important shot of the girls’ trip to Nagasaki and beyond. Yom drew what that group picture should have looked like.

Final Thoughts.

Obviously, I started watching this show to look at nice legs and feet in tights. That’s the name of the show, Miru Tights! However, it became clear very quickly that we had a high quality slice-of-life comedy show with great character development. And the sound editing! I will never forget the sound of pantyhose getting ripped or the echoing of Yuiko-sensei’s high heels on linoleum. Come for the tights. Stay for the high quality animation production, likable characters, and impressive sound effects.

I only had two quibbles during the season. The first was how dark some of the scenes were, which made it almost impossible to appreciate the beautiful girls’ feet and toes through the dark hose. The second complaint is actually more of a wish that we had more time devoted to Yuiko-sensei. I thought she would be more of a main character after sifting through all the promotional material, but she ended up being a supporting cast member. Oh well. No fan service show with great art is going to be perfect.

If you read that correctly, there will be a 13th episode titled “Cosplay Shooting Tights” included with the Blu-ray release on August 23rd. Will Yua finally convince the other girls to join her in her social media cosplay hobby displaying their tights to the whole internet?

Yua is certainly giving Ren the hard sell… Perhaps Yuiko-sensei will appear too? I’m seeing many great illustrations being included with the Blu-ray packaging, so fingers crossed! There will also be lots of other merchandise being offered featuring the girls, so pay attention to our news feed for when the J-List shop has any available. That Yuiko-sensei figure is going to be spectacular!
