Announced back in May this year, the boy’s love (BL) TV series, Dakaichi: I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year is receiving a sequel as a theatrical film. With the reveal of the full trailer and samples of the theme song, Aniplex also gave the release date, whih is slated for this October!
The theme song for the Dakaichi film, “Kawari Yuku Mono Kawaranai Mono” (Change is Constant) will be performed by DEEP SQUAD.
Where we Left Off?
It’s been a hot minute since we got to see anything of this series animated. Dakaichi: I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year aired back in 2018. Since then three additional volumes of the manga have been published. The series follows the career of Japan’s (fictional) most popular actor, Takato Saijō, who has won numerous magazine popularity polls as the #1 person people want to be “hugged” by. It’s an award that, as everyone is well aware of, isn’t really about hugs. This all comes to an end when, in year six, he suddenly loses by a small margin to the young rising star, Junta Azumaya. Coincidentally, right after he sees the news, Takato is assigned to work with him on a medical drama.
Throughout their work, Junta presents himself with an angelic smile, a friendly personality, and open admiration for Takato. However, on the flip side, he’s also a massive pervert, taking every chance he has to make sexual advances on him, even so far as playing into blackmailing Takato with videos recorded when drunk one night (or…more so letting Takato believe he would blackmail him when he had no intentions of such). While Junta has his eyes set to seduce and captivate Takato, Takato sees Junta strictly as competition in the entertainment industry. Just as their relationship begins to settle into something more genuine, a scandalous paparazzi fiasco occurs in the Dakaichi series finale.

Where the Film Takes Us
Picking up where the anime left off, Dakaichi: I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year – Spain Arc will cover the events starting in volume six of the manga, when Junta and Takato need to relocate all the way to Spain for a new filming project, conveniently in the same town where Junta’s grandfather is living. While the TV series was centered primarily around Takato, the movie will carry more focus towards Junta and his family.
Dakaichi: I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year – Spain Arc is set to hit theaters on October 9th.
