Anime fans were thinking that we couldn’t go any deeper down the rabbit hole of questionable anime. That is until we got Eromanga-sensei, an anime about two siblings who unknowingly work together as an artist and writer duo. Without going into too much detail, the protagonist Masamune Izumi learns that his sister is the illustrator of his light novel series. After some embarrassing confrontations, they learn to work together more closely; this also leads to them having romantic feelings for each other. Thankfully they are not blood related, albeit it’s still pretty weird.
However, there’s one other anime out there that you may have heard of. One of which that goes further than Eromanga-sensei. This anime was adapted from an adult visual novel and aired in the year 2010. I am, of course, referring to Yosuga no Sora — the story of twins falling in love with each other.
Bluntly put, Yosuga no Sora is one of those anime that goes beyond boundaries. It contains mature content featuring incest between twins. The anime is told in arcs as to cover the visual novel’s different routes. I don’t think I’ve seen any anime that goes farther than this one (hentai not included). This begs the question: will anime keep delving further into mature themes? Most anime aren’t for kids to begin with, but it has certainly left me pondering about the future of anime content. Regarding Eromanga-sensei, I don’t think it’s as bad as it gets. Yosuga no Sora definitely takes the case on this one. Perhaps I missed a show that goes farther than the latter though.
Have you watched either of these anime? Either way, don’t show these to younger siblings or kids, it’s not suitable for them by any means. Another anime kids should stay away from is Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya…but that’s something to talk about for another day.
