A bandage can cover a wound. But can it inflict fresh wounds? More like psychological trauma for a formidable yakuza caretaker whose charge enjoys seeing strong men at their most vulnerable. That unusual attraction transforms an underworld protection assignment into a romantic comedy. Wound & Bandage (Kizuguchi to Houtai) premieres January 9, 2027.

Wound & Bandage Turns Weakness Into Romantic Chemistry
Riyo Washizu is the daughter of a yakuza leader. Go Kiritani, the young head of the affiliated Kurotorikai group, receives orders to become her caretaker and expects a quiet assignment. Riyo complicates that plan by identifying herself as a yowaraa: someone especially attracted to normally strong people when they show vulnerability.
That makes Go an irresistible target considering the violence that follows his yakuza work. Wound & Bandage turns his exposed feelings and Riyo’s acts of care into rom-com fuel. The story’s title explains the relationship’s rhythm: Go takes damage. Then Riyo applies the bandages and closes the distance.
Two Leads Carry an Unusual Underworld Romance
J.C.STAFF is adapting Umihoshi Nanai’s ongoing Kodansha web manga, currently collected in five Japanese volumes. Wound & Bandage has announced only the leads so far, with supporting cast confirmations coming closer to the premiere.
Cast
- Hisako Kanemoto — Riyo Washizu, the yakuza heiress fascinated by cracks in intimidating men’s armor.
- Chikahiro Kobayashi — Go Kiritani, the Kurotorikai boss tasked with protecting Riyo while she studies his softer side.
Staff
- Miyuki Ishida — director
- Susumu Yamakawa — scripts
- Natsuki Ooyama — character design
The “Ai” teaser presents Go as the wounded underworld enforcer and Riyo as the person wrapping him up. Wound & Bandage knows exactly where its romantic pressure point is. And keeps poking it!
J-List’s Other Yakuza Couples Make Good Company
J-List’s previous coverage introduced the manga and production team. This update includes the exact premiere schedule and lead voice actors. The teaser promo features Go’s increasing frustration with Riyo’s wound-care “hobby.” Wound & Bandage shares the same heiress-and-caretaker premise as A Girl & Her Guard Dog. However, Riyo’s enthusiasm for Go’s vulnerable moments gives this relationship its own peculiar pulse.
Yakuza Fiancé makes underworld romance openly adversarial. Wound & Bandage chooses domestic proximity instead: fewer rival-family negotiations and more emotional ambushes during caretaker duty.
Where and When Wound & Bandage Airs
Wound & Bandage premieres January 9 at 23:00 JST on AT-X, followed by the nationwide ANiMAZiNG!!! late-night block and an ABEMA stream. No international streaming partner has been announced.
Aftercare Assessment: Wound & Bandage turns a yakuza protection assignment into an affectionate study of how strength becomes more interesting when someone trustworthy sees the vulnerability underneath it.
