Psychology majors might not like to admit it, but Sigmund Freud was clearly onto something. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have doujinshi like It’s Not Like We’re Related by Zonebell Tsukiji. This delightful, uncensored dark-skinned waifu-on-DILF isn’t quite the usual MILF taboo setup. Thankfully, it’s also not the overbearing “step-bro” affair of every second video on Western porn sites (someone please leave those poor washing machines alone!)
It’s Not Like We’re Related is — despite the sexy antics — a sentimental and sweet doujin, and it flips the script with a dominant daughter and tender-hearted dad. Today on J-List, we’re reviewing the uncensored English doujinshi that combines a dark-skinned waifu, bed-breaking action, and surprisingly wholesome bonding!
It’s a very special time for us at J-List, because 30 years ago this week, we started the first anime and hentai shop selling to fans around the world. And we’ve been able to make it this far thanks to our wonderful customers. We’re celebrating with a huge 20% sale on all in-stock Japan products, through October 7th. Start browsing now!
Family Is Only Ever 0.01mm Away

“Wholesome incest” sounds like an oxymoron. Still, it’s an honest description of It’s Not Like We’re Related, Zonebell Tsukiji’s first officially translated English doujinshi. Mid-forties salaryman Akao Shiramine has single-handedly raised his daughter, Kurone, for the past eighteen years. Akao summons the courage to tell her the truth on her eighteenth birthday — but she’s known all along! On second thought, maybe that was obvious, since she’s dark-skinned, white-haired, and muscle-bound!
The first sixteen pages of It’s Not Like We’re Related are purely character-driven. Until Kurone appears naked in the bathroom, it’s easy to forget you’re reading a hentai manga. Smut readers usually fall into either the “porn with plot” or “plot, what’s that?” categories, and it’s safe to say that It’s Not Like We’re Related falls into the former.
There’s a genuine, heartwarming narrative here: a man whose wife abandoned him with a daughter from another man. Kurone’s childhood appears through flashbacks, too, revealing her isolation at school and the bond she forged with her father.
After Akao’s revelation, he admits he was a terrible dad — but Kurone embraces him and says she’s grateful he stuck by a girl unrelated to him by blood or marriage. This unlikely pair of family members are strangers, bonded by circumstance and united by another’s lies and cowardice. All this backstory only makes the rampaging horniness even sexier!
Putting the Daddy into DILF

J18 Publishing’s translation of It’s Not Like We’re Related is generously sized, comprising both parts of Zonebell Tsukiji’s work. Weighing in at 84 pages of content, this doujinshi is packed with wild sex that pole-vaults over the morally correct line between “father and daughter.”
Roughly half of the combined two volumes is back-breaking (adopted) daughter-breeding. If you’ve got a thing for a dark-skinned waifu who likes it dirty, Kurone is your gal. Her infectious optimism and dominant energy, combined with her ample breasts and dirty talk, make her the ideal partner (or, apparently, daughter).

For his own part, Akao is reasonably attractive. Many doujinshi treat the male character as a pure self-insert, opting for an eyeless mannequin the reader can project upon. We’ve got no qualms admitting that Akao is something of a DILF. It’s easy to see why Kurone wants to hump her daddy’s brains out — Akao represents the indefatigable, reliable father figure we either have or wish we had in our lives.
Some of the manga’s most impactful scenes (metaphorically and sexually) are cleverly interspersed with flashbacks between child-Kurone and Akao, raising the emotional stakes and, therefore, the overall enjoyment.
Why We Recommend It’s Not Like We’re Related

Zonebell Tsukiji has carefully balanced the raunchy sex we want out of a doujinshi with the world-building and characters that define the best manga. If you want to form a connection with your characters before they start bumping uglies, It’s Not Like We’re Related will absolutely be the doujin for you. With such a generous page count, you’re not sacrificing any content at all, so it’s truly the best of both worlds!
With a slutty dark-skinned waifu, a reluctant but doting father, and more family drama than an episode of Jerry Springer, It’s Not Like We’re Related is the best incest-but-not-really doujinshi we’ve read this year — and one we’d seriously love to have on our own shelf at home!
You can purchase It’s Not Like We’re Related, fully uncensored and in English, via the J-List store. What do you think about character-focused doujinshi? Do you prefer to get straight into the action, or learn more about your characters first? Let us know in the comments, and as always, thanks for reading!
