A streaming gamer girl alienates her viewers except one superfan who makes an outrageous request.
Episode 3 — “Kokoro Kisaragi (Gamer Girl)”
Hmm.
Female live streamers and their viewers have taken on many of the same parasocial issues that idol culture and soap opera stars experience, like stalkers and uninvited communication. VTubers’ chat members have even adopted the language and terms of Japanese idol fans, describing their favorite streamers as “oshis.” Except they form transactional support relationships through paid chats and monetary subscriptions rather than attending concerts, buying music, or waving light sticks around. How well did Iyapan Returns capture the intersection of streaming culture with idol fandom through its specific fetish? Here are my thoughts and fun screen caps!

Iyapan Returns — Putting Panties and Streaming Platforms on Your Screen
Considering that Kokoro Kisaragi became 40hara’s reluctant panty-flashing gamer girl after 2018 (see calendar date speculation below), we can forgive how streaming platforms have changed their moderation rules. But even back then, Twitch wouldn’t have let a live streamer turn into a cam girl for one viewer. That’s a plausibility issue for Iyapan Returns because even Coroneko should have realized that other viewers could start watching her stream during her single-viewer session. She might have made the video replay private, but wouldn’t her platform still temporarily suspend her?
Also, all the fans, save one, abandoned her stream after she directed her insults at them instead of at the gameplay she usually featured. That’s an exaggerated reaction because a few would have stayed to hate-watch and troll the chat. Sure, it’s a fetish-fantasy scenario for an anime short, but watching something eight years after all the Twitch and VTuber controversies would provoke skepticism from streaming fans today.
Parasocial Simps, Whales, and the Dark Side of Streaming
The viewer reaction during the Iyapan Returns episode also points to a broader theme — fan communities’ parasocial tendencies can turn into obsession and dangerous possessiveness. Although VTuber communities have adopted the language of Japanese pop idol culture, chat members invest more in the performer’s attention and persona than casual viewers. There’s much more interaction than an idol’s “MC Corner” (talk segment) for the concert hall attendees.
Still, look at how Iyapan Returns portrayed the chat’s reactions to Kokoro’s words about how she couldn’t care about them because they had never met in person. They touch on some of the same ideas explored in Oshi no Ko, especially the tension between an audience’s expectations and fan fixation. Kokoro was lucky she only had to show her panties to one guy on the internet!
Iyapan Returns Makes Me Say Heh.

Aw, the gamer girl is nervous about her audience. How popular is the Coroneko Channel? Uh oh. The gamer girl is a chat girl for this stream. Will her viewers like that?

Oh no. Coroneko insulted her simps, and they all left! Everyone except her whale. She thought her viewers liked her sharp humor, but that must have been only okay because she directed it at the game she streamed.
Kokoro’s number one fan is a smooth talker. Or typer? Judging from the date (05/06 Tue), this stream occurred either in 2025 (May 6, 2025) or in 2018 (June 5, 2018), which were Tuesdays. I lean toward 2018 because it fits the DD-MM-YY date format the Japanese favor, and it’s the same timeframe in which 40hara published his Iyapan doujin featuring Kokoro.

Here we go: the twist on the streamer-simp scenario is a private meetup. But here comes the twisted turn — The whale asks to see Kokoro’s panties! Now, how will the whale put a disgusted face on Kokoro the Gamer Girl? He can’t sleep because dreaming of her panties keeps waking him up.

Giba-chan illustrates the end card, showing Kokoro showing her panties more than once. Every time is the last time, I’m sure. Compare UWAN Pictures’s version of Kokoro with 40hara’s original and commemorative ones. Which looks better?

The least believable scene was not Kokoro showing her panties to a stranger in a public live stream. Oh no. It was the chat emptying instead of trolls staying and throwing bombs! What would you have said to Coroneko? Would you have your shot with some aggressive flirting like her whale? Do you have an oshi streamer girl? Who? Tell us in the comments!
