Ichigo Aika‘s first episode has been on OceanVeil for about a month now. The “What are you doing, step-bro!” hentai anime is starting its full simulcast this month, so it’s time to re-re-re-re-review! After all, I have the privilege of writing for the horniest anime site in all of weebdom; might as well talk about hentai. So let’s talk about this season’s step-sister banger (pun intended): Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy!
Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy —Synopsis and Step-Sister Banging
Kouta Takamura is a dude who’s living the rom-com life; his dad is remarrying, and he’s getting a bangable imouto. While that may fill others with trepidation or excitement, Kouta only cares about his dad’s happiness. So when he meets his new imouto, and they immediately clash, he brushes it off. But what he can’t brush off as easily is Aika’s constant fornication. Yet, Kouta keeps to himself, or at least he did until he heard his imouto begging her romp not to put it in without a condom. And when he intervenes, Akia and Kouta’s story truly sets off.

I admit, I don’t know much about Japanese culture. I have an average IQ. Yet, I’m intelligent enough to know that I shouldn’t think that what happens in anime happens in Japan. But I’m also cognizant of the world around me. I know that suddenly gaining a step-anything like Kouta does in Ichigo Aika, may seem like the realm of anime, but it happens. Likewise, relationships between non-blood-related step siblings (#nochromo) also happen.
Society and morality dictate that when you gain a step-sibling, you should view that person platonically. But what if your parent basically introduced you to your soulmate or a perfect sexual partner? Should you avoid horny thoughts, or do you embrace them? After all, if that person doesn’t share your genes, biologically, there’s no reason for you to stay out of their jeans.
So how does Ichigo Aika: Zatsu de Namaiki na Imouto to Warikirenai Ani portray what amounts to a touchy (HA!) subject?
What are You Doing, Step-Bro?
Did you know that if you wanted to stuff your step-sis with a gallon of jizz, as long as she’s not related to you, you’re legally allowed to? The taboo around step-sibling relationships is wholly societal. The biggest drawback to it is disrupting family dynamics, but you don’t need to date a step-anything to do that.
Step-sibling romance is often comical in anime. Ichigo Aika doesn’t follow this path. There’s no love at first sight like in Eromanga Sensei. Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy has context; you only need to dig a little to find it.
Did you know that loneliness increases the likelihood of a person engaging in promiscuous and risky sexual behavior? We’re social creatures, and when we lack the connections we need in life, we try to form them by any means possible. Aika and Kouta’s upcoming romance arises from the most believable situation: two lonely, unsupervised kids who end up looking out for each other. Nothing grand. Their relationship merely happens. I high-key love that approach.
Production Thoughts
For a hentai that’s only a few minutes long, Ichigo Aika is more tolerable than other ultra-condensed titles. I was excited for the Ren Arusigawa adaptation. But when I saw it, I suffered so much emotional distress that OceanVeil and AnimeFesta are getting a letter from my lawyer, and I need compensation for my suffering. Luckily, Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy doesn’t torture me with the same issues. There’s still a story. You don’t get a half-hearted attempt at hiding smut behind a plot. The smut and plot are perfectly balanced.
For the most part, Studio Hoshiboki’s animation is clean and enjoyable. However, their panned scenes are clunky, and their transitions are slightly slow. Hoshiboki’s ecchi scenes are well done. Genitalia looks like genitalia. I’ll never understand why hentai has badly drawn erogenous zones. Some titles have vaginas that look like if I stuck my dick into them, a Xenomorph would pop out of my testicles.

Akia’s voice actor, Hana Yurimoto, nails Aika’s insufferable, bratty, gyaru vibe. Merely hearing her noises of displeasure afflicts my mood. I know trouble when I hear it, and Hana ensures that Aika’s voice is tinged with trouble. Likewise, Yuuta Igarashi was the perfect choice to voice Kouta. All I hear when that man speaks is the voice of a stressed-out loner who’s frustrated that his sister is getting some, but his dick is drier than the moon.
I’ll give Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy a 3.5 out of 5.
Where to Watch and Read Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy
Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy is based on the adult manga by Hirafumi (author) and Yabi Shinba (illustrator). Comic C’moa has serialized the title since November 2022. If you know Japanese, you can read the first volume of the manga on Com!c Festa.
OceanVeil debuted Ichigo Aika‘s first episode last month; its full streaming run started this week.
