So, it’s safe to say I rushed to preorder the Kotobukiya Nina Iseri 1/7 figure.
Sculpted by Yudai Seki and based on an illustration by Nari Teshina, the 7.79″ figure captures everything that makes Nina so captivating. From her passionate mid-yell expression to her commanding stance, the figure sends chills up your spine. The neon yellow patches and belt on the figure contrast against the bluish palette of her Wrong World outfit. Her denim jacket and short jeans blaze with patches, and the leg sticker is a kawaii little touch on the Nina Iseri 1/7 figure. Why? As someone who frequents concerts, I can tell you that someone at a rock show with a battle vest stinks. The heavier the music, the more pungent the smell. But not Nina. I’m a big fan of gap-moe. Hell, I’m a big fan of contradictions in general. Something about having something that looks like it’s supposed to be a certain way but acts differently makes me giddy. That’s why I love feminine tomboys so much. So, seeing a dainty ojousan in a rock band fills me with glee. And with Tomo Ebizuka, Girls Band Cry made sure that was a joy I could revel in. And seeing the haughty keyboardist vibe to their music was soul-cleansing.
Another soul-cleansing thing is the immaculate Tomo Ebizuka 1/7 figure by Kotobukiya. Sculpted by Kotobuyaki, the 9.1″ figure features the stoic Tomo in her Wrong World outfit. The half-serious, half-frilly dress suits her so well that it bolsters her expression. Another figure from illustrator Nori Teshina, the figure brings out Tomo’s charm. From its kawaii headband to the sheet music that trails behind her and her curtsy pose, the figure is what we in the business world call a solid investment. I was at a Regurgitated Divinity show the other day. While bree-brees and blast beats were plenty, the kawaii appeal was a zero. Anime spoiled me. Now, when I’m at a concert, I always want hot waifus to take the stage. Since I can’t get that, I’ll rewatch Girls Band Cry religiously. What can I say? It appeals to my taste in music and women. And speaking of my taste in women, the Subaru Awa is an 11/10. *Chef’s Kiss*

What’s The Show About?
Figuring out one’s place in life can be a lifelong journey. It may seem like a simple concept in your younger years. But the moment you reach adolescence and realize that things are rarely as simple as they seem, life gets way more complicated. When life’s at its best, you’ll struggle with this, but if you have trouble fitting in, things get way more convoluted. Those are the challenges facing the bright but fragile Nina Iseri. Nina Iseri dropped out of high school after realizing home had nothing to offer her. She moved to Tokyo to attend cram school and enter a decent university. A move that her favorite band inspired.
However, Nina’s arrival in Tokyo was less than glamorous, as she lost her way and couldn’t access her apartment because of those misadventures. Because of that, Nina learned that life works in mysterious ways after meeting a guitarist. A guitarist in the band that inspired her move! After a quick friendship, the two start their own band, hoping to make it big.
Girls Band Cry aired as part of the Spring 2024 anime season. Toei Animation animated the Agehassprings-produced show. Togenashi Togeari has released two studio albums, “Togeari” and “Togenashi,” as well as several top-20 singles and music videos.
