Many proud and ambitious anime characters set out to achieve their dreams. It’s a tried-and-true plotline. However, this new protagonist accepts reality and decides to turn back. His powerful childhood friends politely disagreed and made him the leader of their party. We’ll see how the party fares when Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Woe Is the Weakling Who Leads the Strongest Party (Nageki no Borei wa Intai Shitai: Saijaku Hunter ni Yoru Saikyo Party Ikusei-jutsu) premieres on October 1st, 2024.
Tsukikage and Chyko released the original Let This Grieving Soul Retire! light novel on August 30th, 2018. Micro Magazine has published eleven volumes in the GC Novels imprint.
The weakest leader and two of his much stronger friends are as follows:
- Krai Andrey — Kensho Ono (Giorno Giovanna from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure). A guy who dreamed of becoming a great treasure hunter. His lack of skills makes him want to quit.
- Tino Shade — Miyu Kubota (Karin Asaka from Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club). A solo thief who looks up to Krai. She wants to join his party.
- Liz Smart — Fairouz Ai (Power from Chainsaw Man). A thief and member of Grieving Souls. Merciless in combat, she leaves nothing behind.
Studio Zero-G has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Let This Grieving Soul Retire!. You can find additional series information and the Key Visuals there. For a loner, Krai has a lot of girls chasing after him. The most talented girls surround the weakest hunter.
Whatever You Do, Don’t Let This Grieving Soul Retire!
It is a golden age for treasure hunters. Skilled adventurers explore the most dangerous ruins and caves to find riches beyond imagining. Many people dream of becoming treasure hunters for wealth or fame. Krai Andrey once held such lofty dreams of adventure. He promised his six childhood friends that they would all become great treasure hunters. Unfortunately, he never awakened the skill or potential to become a treasure hunter like his friends.
Krai left his dream behind not to drag his friends down during battle, but they installed him as the leader of their top-level “Grieving Souls” party instead. What Krai lacks in sheer brute power, he makes up for in intellect and cunning. Although he makes an effective leader, he wants to quit and live a life of peace where he won’t have to deal with life-and-death battles.
