An orphan who lost everything to a plague sees her fate change after a bitter betrayal. The cute title character of Nina the Starry Bride (Hoshifuru Okoku no Nina) becomes a fake princess to cover up an accident. We’ll see if the ruse works when this anime series premieres sometime in October 2024. Let’s enjoy the preview video until then.
Rikachi released the original Nina the Starry Bride manga on October 1st, 2019. Kodansha has since published thirteen volumes in Be Love.
The fake princess and two very real princes are as follows:
- Nina — Minami Tanaka (Nitocris, Valkyrie Ortlinde from Fate/Grand Order). Nina is a peasant girl who lost her parents to a plague. Her starry-blue eyes allow her to replace Princess Alisha.
- Azure — Yuichiro Umehara (Sekido from Demon Slayer / Kimetsu no Yaiba). Azure is the second prince of Fortna and Alisha’s half brother. He orchestrates the events that lead Nina to replace his sister.
- Sett — Koki Uchiyama (Taiki Himekawa from Oshi no Ko). Sett is the first prince of Galgada and Alisha’s fiancé. He is famous — or infamous — for his ruthless efficiency on the battlefield.

Nina the Starry Bride Replaces the Star Maiden
Nina is the orphan child of two commoners. She lost her parents to a plague several years ago, and her only company had been two brothers who helped her steal to survive. Nina has rare deep-blue lapis lazuli eyes that resemble the God of the Stars. People with such eyes are highly coveted by nobles and slavers alike. It just so happens that Princess Alisha — who also acts as Fortna’s Astral Priestess — has the same rare eyes.
Princess Alisha’s carriage suffered a terrible fall down a hill, which resulted in her untimely demise. Her half brother Azure sought a replacement to ensure his kingdom’s safety. Alisha was scheduled to appear before the king and eventually marry Prince Sett of Galgada. As luck would have it, Nina was sold out by one of the brothers she had come to live with to Azure and his men. At first, Nina wasn’t happy about her new role but was delighted to have people who needed her.
