Hot on the heels after Season 6 wrapping up, Jump’s official YouTube channel posted a trailer celebrating the birthday of the most explosive My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Akademia) character, Bakugo Katsuki. Yes. The volatile boy, the punk hero with an All Might-sized chip on his shoulder, was born on April 20th.
The trailer below highlights some key moments from the manga. There’s plenty of prime wallpaper material for Bakugo fans to use.
Nobuhiko Okamoto, the Japanese voice actor for Bakugo, retweeted Jump Comic’s tweet celebrating the event on Twitter. Appropriately, he used plenty of explosion emojis. Bakugo wouldn’t have it any other way.

Bakugo Katsuki, The Explosive Hero
According to the Ultra Analysis, Katsuki’s personality is described as an “abusive egotist,” which explains why the League of Villains kidnapped him, which started the Hideout Raid Arc of the story. They thought he would make a fine villain in their ranks. Gee, I wonder if his edgy personality or general lack of regard for others made them think he would make a good villain. Regardless of his explosive personality, he’s still a hero inside and out, and he’s even worked to make amends with his childhood “friend” Izuku Midoriya.
If you’re a fan of Bakugo and looking to add to your collection, the J-List shop has a recommendation. The Katsuki Bakugo PalVerse Pale. Figure from the shop’s My Hero Academia section is available now for pre-order.
My Hero Academia Origins
For those new to the series, My Hero Academia follows a group of young, aspiring heroes as they learn the hero basics at U.A. High School. The lead character is Izuku Midoriya, the Number One fan of the Number One hero, All Might. He dreamed of being a hero but was born without a Quirk (superpower). Later on, after meeting his hero, he gains All Might’s power, One For All. Despite his young age, he and his friends must face the worst possible situations at the hands of villains. Still, a hero must keep his smile, regardless of how bad things get.
Hero class was first in session in the legendary manga series written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi. Shueisha started publishing the series in their Jump Comics imprint on July 7th, 2014 and has since released 37 volumes. There are numerous spin-offs and adaptations, and it would be an entire article to discuss them. There are stage plays, video games, an anime series, and more. There’s a lot, so odds are you’ll like at least one.
