The original upcoming anime series Metallic Rouge, which is said to be a “tech noir” series, should have plenty of people hyped up, even if studio Bones has only provided the barest of story details so far. There are true legends in the anime industry heading this project, and they have all proven themselves time and again.
We have a while more to wait, as we’ve been given a premiere window of January 2024, so let’s try to make a full course meal of the short trailer Bones has released.
Studio Bones has taken the liberty of setting up a promotional home page and an official Twitter page to keep fans and potential viewers informed of series updates. Both websites are pretty barren besides the trailer and the key visual, as can be seen below, so consider this getting in on the ground floor of something potentially epic.
Machine Against Machine, a Battle on Mars
We only have scant plot details about the upcoming Metallic Rouge anime series, but what we do know should have fans intrigued.
The titular Rouge is a powerful android, capable of transforming to perform truly superhuman feats. She, along with her friend Naomi, are tasked to travel to Mars and execute nine artificial humans (likely androids, but the promotional material uses this term) who are conspiring against the government.
Metallic Rouge Origins
Metallic Rouge is an original story that isn’t adapting pre-existing works. Studio Bones is teaming up with Yutaka Izubuchi, a legend who had a hand in some of the best anime series, including Panzer World Galient, and certain entries in the Gundam and Patlabor series. He previously worked with Bones on RahXephon.
Joining them is Toshihiro Kawamoto, who has the great Cowboy Bebop, Gosick, and My Hero Academia on his impressive résumé.
So while we don’t know too much about the series, Bones is stressing that they have some of the greats working on it.
For those who quickly took notice of how alluring Rouge could be, and wanted to see more android girls who look soft on the outside, belaying just how hard they are on the inside, the J-List shop knows that pain, and has the solution. The 2B (YoRHa No.2 Type B) Figure DX Edition from NieR: Automata can be posed in many ways, and both dressed up and dressed down.
Are you looking forward to this new and original anime series from Bones and a team of legends? Do you think Rouge or Naomi are already prime waifu material? Do you think 2B could take her in a fight? Let us know in the comments below.
