Last week, we counted down a list of ten of the best elf girls in anime, and we did worship them well. However, we cannot ignore the sexy elf in the room: the dark elves. Mysterious, alluring, and definitely worthy of our undying loyalty. So today, we look at some of the best dark elves we can find.
1. Dark Elf — Bikini Warriors
How could we not begin a list of dark elves without Dark Elf taking the top spot? There can only be glory in a world of powerful women walking around in bikini armor — and said powerful women have simple names related to their classes. Dark Elf is skilled in both armed combat and magic, but that doesn’t prevent her from getting caught up in lewd situations with the other women of her party, especially Mage.
Bikini Warriors, based on a series of fantasy figures created by Hobby Japan, much like Queen’s Blade, ran from July 8th, 2015, to July 27th, 2018, which consists of twelve episodes and six OVAs. Studios Feel and PRA saw what Agent Aika was doing and said, “Hold my sake!”
2. Muramasa — Full Metal Daemon: Muramasa
Also called Sansei Muramasa, the third-generation Muramasa is a powerful living suit of armor with a sword. Wielded by Minato Kageaki to cut down both agents of the shogunate and the Silver Star clan, they could either bring about glory or ruin. When not in armor form, Muramasa is a cute girl who looks like a dark elf. She’s shy and oblivious to love and romance.
Full Metal Daemon Muramasa is technically a visual novel that can be found right on the J-List shop. Nitroplus originally released the game in Japan on October 30th, 2009, and in the West on August 25th, 2021.
3. Echidna — Queen’s Blade
We couldn’t include Alleyne and not include the dark elf Echidna to balance things out, could we? Unlike Alleyne, Echidna is more open, as indicated by her use of a pet snake instead of panties. She’s also fond of flirting with girls, especially Leina. Despite all this, she’s considered powerful enough to win the entire Queen’s Blade battle. She merely chooses not to.
Queen’s Blade first began its sexy tournament as a series of visual combat books published by Hobby Japan. There were numerous manga, light novels, and anime adaptations.
4. Yao Ro Dushi — Gate (Gate: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri, or Gate: Thus the Japanese Self-Defense Force Fought in Their Land)
Gate is considered a “reverse isekai” and deals with the Japanese military in a fantasy world. The dark elf Yao becomes involved with the JSDF, and after a series of events, she binds herself to Itami Youji as his slave and lover. Despite her willingness, Itami never makes a move, as he considers it an abuse of authority. Yao is skilled in both armed and magical combat.
Gate is a novel series by Takumi Yanai, a real-life former JSDF soldier. The series has been adapted into manga and anime.
5. Pirotess — Record of Lodoss War
We can’t have Deedlit in one list and not have Pirotess in another, right? Pirotess, also known as Sheru, is a highly skilled dark elf initially tasked with assassinating the Black Knight Ashram. However, she instead entered into his service and became absolutely loyal to him.
Record of Lodoss War set the high fantasy world ablaze as a series of novels by Ryo Mizuno that ran from April 10th, 1988, to March 27th, 1993. To begin talking about how much material there is would be an article on its own. But there are plenty of anime to watch and manga to read too.
6. Aisha Udgard — How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom (Genjitsu Shugi Yusha no Okoku Saikenki)
A cute dark elf, the village chief’s daughter, with a huge appetite. She becomes Kazuya Souma’s second queen consort and starts to dearly love him after he has saved her village from a landslide. She’s a highly skilled warrior, given the title “Dame-Queen of the East Wind,” but she’s still something of an airhead who can be impulsive and reckless.
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom began as a novel by Dojyomaru in 2014. It was later adapted into light novel, manga, and anime formats.
7. Aura Shurifon — Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar (Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, Sage Machine Master Story in the Different World)
The Dark Elf Princess of the Shurifon Kingdom and another girl that falls for the old Masaki charm, only it’s Kenshi this time, not his way more famous older brother Tenchi. Aura meets Kenshi after he is summoned to Geminar to assassinate the Empress of the Shtrayu Empire, Lashara Aasu XXVIII. Aura is taken by his skills and kindness and comes to love him. Her combat skills, inside and out of the giant robot, are just as remarkable.
This OVA series, originally released between March 20th, 2009, and March 19th, 2010, and adapted to light novel and manga formats, is another entry in the long-running sci-fi and harem series created by Masaki Kajishima. Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar takes story elements, such as names and terms, from an older anime series titled Photon, another series created by Masaki Kajishima in 1997.
8. Arshes Nei — Bastard!! Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy (Bastard!! Ankoku no Hakaishin, or Bastard!! The Dark God of Destruction)
Arshes Nei is a half-dark elf, but she still belongs on this list. A former member of the Four Divine Kings who served under Dark Schneider, the series protagonist. She was assigned to kill him after he revived but instead returned to his side as his companion and lover. She is a strong warrior, having been granted the title “Thunder Empress” due to her skill with air magic that can make lightning.
Bastard!! began a campaign on the world as a manga series written and illustrated by Kazushi Hagiwara, who drew influence from his love of heavy metal music and Dungeons & Dragons. There are a couple of anime adaptations fans can watch and appreciate.
If someone wants Arshes Nei to love and worship, the J-List shop has them covered: the Arshes Nei 1/7 Figure is available at a discounted pre-order and is epic and sexy.
9. Omega — The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!)
Omega is a member of Cid’s secretive Shadow Garden. She is a half-dark elf, an exceptional combatant, and an agent of the Garden. Like every other agent, she is absolutely loyal to Cid. A further rarity is that she’s a tomboy, and for those looking for a sexy tomboy, look no further than Omega.
The Eminence in Shadow began as a novel series written by Daisuke Aizawa. It was adapted into light novel form, manga, and even an anime series.
10. Suzu — Gestalt (Choju Densetsu Gestalt, or Super-Legend Gestalt)
Suzu is a dark elf who takes on odd jobs for money. After Father Olivier leaves the Order of Vasaria to travel to the island known as G to find the truth of the banished god Gestalt — a being so terrible that it is forbidden to even speak its name — Father Messiah hires Suzu to bring Olivier back. Suzu runs into trouble when Olivier’s new companion, the cute, sexy, and powerful mage Ohri, easily defeats her. I guess dark elves are lower on the pecking order than pink-haired girls.
Gestalt began as a manga series written and illustrated by Yun Koga. It lasted eight volumes, published from July 25th, 1992, to January 18th, 2001. It was later adapted to anime, gaining two episodes that aired on January 22nd, 1997, and February 21st, 1997. There are also drama CDs and novels that fans can enjoy.
Bonus: Shiranui Flare — Hololive
Yes, VTubers can also be dark elves. Hololive’s third-gen talent, Shiranui Flare, is a half-dark elf, who wants to be a source of comfort for those in trouble, so be sure to tune into her channel, even if you’re not troubled.
If you want to take a piece of Flare home, please pick up the Shiranui Flare Nendoroid Figure at the J-List shop. There’s also a ton more Hololive goodness to be found there.
If you need to appreciate even more dark elves in this world (and who doesn’t need more?), the dark elf Raira could use a new home when she becomes available in May. The 2nd Villager Raira 1/6 Vertex Originals Figure is now available for pre-order at a discount on the J-List shop.
