The new season has begun, and as usual, our proverbial cup runneth over with quality new anime. One fun ecchi anime you might be interested in is Futoku no Guild, aka Immoral Guild or Guild of Depravity, a silly but oddly relaxing turn-off-your-brain anime that merges fantasy with fanservice. Keep reading for more info!
Immoral Guild is a Goofy Fanservice Anime
Futoku no Guild is a “monster hunting ero comedy” anime that follows Kokuru, a skilled monster hunter who’s decided to retire because a friend of his got married, causing Kokuru to re-think his life. The guild receptionist Enome wants to stop him from quitting and asks that he train a replacement. This is the super-cute “Lolipai Martial Artist” Hitamuki, who is worse than useless in a fight.
Soon Kikuru is joined by other characters who round out his harem: feisty flat-chested white sorceress Meidena, lazy black sorceress Toxico Dannar, troublesome berserker Hanabata who gets horny when she drinks too much mana potion, and boyish fairy named Noma Rune. All the girls are pathetic, except when it comes to creating sexy visual eye-candy for viewers. Futoku no Guild is like Konosuba, but with every girl being as useless as Aqua!
The anime is based on a manga by Taichi Kawazoe that has been running in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan manga since 2017. Like the first episode of the anime, the manga is an endless stream of slapstick sexy situations involving all the girls.
The anime is directed by Takuya Asaoka, infamous for giving us Redo of Healer, which means we can count on quality fanservice in every episode! Let’s just hope the show doesn’t attract the ire of certain corners of the Internet, or we might be guaranteed a second season, just like what happened with Uzaki-chan.
A Great Anime You Can’t Watch Legally
I love the modern streaming age, which has increased the money flowing to animation studios and enabled many projects that might not have gotten made otherwise. But the downside is that a certain type of sexy fanservice-heavy show becomes “problematic” for streaming companies, especially when conservative markets like China are considered. Rather than give fans an insultingly censored version like the ridiculous World’s End Harem, steaming sites like Crunchyroll seems to have passed on Futoku no Guild entirely. Fans are forced to “sail the high seas” to watch it.
This is a terrible shame, to my mind, and I think fans should contact HiDive through email or their Twitter feed, asking them to pick up the show. Let’s let them know how much we want anime in a proper uncensored format made available to fans outside Japan!
(Also, J-List stocks high-quality uncensored Japanese Blu-ray anime releases for fans who want to collect them. We will carry the Blu-rays for this show when they come out!)
