Yostar Pictures sure were busy this past weekend with the announcement of two different television anime projects!
First up, the relatively young animation studio revealed a brand new original golfing anime titled Sky Blue Utility (Sorairo Utility) along with a key visual. Unfortunately, no other details were revealed with the announcement besides an excited quote from the director, Kengo Saitō, which reads, “The golf anime I’ve said over and over I’ve wanted to make, I’m really being allowed to make it. I’m so happy.”
In the second announcement of the weekend, the fledgling studio also revealed that they are working on a television anime adaptation of the mobile game Arknights. What’s interesting about this particular announcement is that it specifically says that season 1 (which will be titled “Prelude to Dawn”) is already in production. Could this be a hint that they are already planning multiple seasons for this property? Your guess is as good as mine.
As mentioned, this property started as a mobile game, which got a worldwide launch in January 2020. The game’s setting is a post-apocalyptic landscape on a planet called Terra. Unfortunately, a new disease has begun to spread among the populace called Oripathy, with a 100% fatality rate. Because of its highly communicable nature, governments all over the planet expelled those with the disease, which sparked tensions between the two sides of infected and not-infected.
Based on the promotional video posted above, it seems that the story of the anime is going to tie into the main story of the game, which features a doctor with amnesia who is working with a group known as Rhodes Island to find a cure and keep themselves alive long enough to bring peace to the world.
Once again, no other details were released for this Yostar Pictures announcement, but, as always, you can stay tuned to the J-List Blog for more details as they become available.
