The concept of moe is all about designing characters who are so adorably cute, fans can’t help but fall in love and experience feelings of protectiveness for them. A good moe character must have some type of flaw to make her adorable to characters, for example being clumsy, wearing glasses, being an emotionally unbalanced tsundere, or being unable to pronounce the words “coffee” or “green tea.” Another cute character flaw that creators can give to their characters is to make them into short anime girls. Here’s a blog post with our favorite height-challenged anime characters!
The 11 Best Short Anime Girls
One of the cutest short anime girls is Poplar from the anime Working! / Wagnaria!, who tries so hard to fill out her timesheet, despite not being able to reach that high. She’s too proud to stand on a stepladder or chair. Souta, who loves “small animals,” loves to give her headpats while working.
Another famous petite anime girl is Tanya the Evil from Youjo Senki, a military mage who can fly and rain terror on her enemies.
One of the most relaxing and adorable anime series around, Non Non Biyori (lit. “good weather for lazing around and doing nothing”) is the story of a girl named Hotaru who moves from Tokyo to a rural part of Japan. Because Hotaru sprouted early, her senpai Komari is much shorter than her despite being older.
The Japanese consider lovers walking together under the same umbrella to be very romantic. But what happens when a very short girl does this with her super-tall crush? Something like this.
Tomoko from Watamote! is another short anime girl we love, although her social anxiety is so realistically portrayed, the anime can be a challenge to watch.
Another beloved short anime girl is Konata from Lucky Star, who’s always setting up jokes for Kagami to verbally smack down.
Nene from New Game! is at her best when she’s playing “yuri games” with Umiko. Remember, you can’t spell Nenecchi without ecchi.
One of the best short anime girls in the history of anime is Taiga Aisaka from Toradora, and she’s also my favorite Rie Kugimiya-voiced character.
If you had some free time on the weekend, there’d be no cooler person to spend it with than Hana Uzaki. Her short stature only manages to make her huge oppai stand out even more. Would you believe we have them in stock?
Another lovely petite anime girl is Rikka from Love, Chuunibyo and Other Delusions. She’s so short, and her mannerisms so cute and ridiculous, that she’s one of our favorites.
Who is the queen of short anime girls? It must be Suzu Hagiwara from Seitokai Yakuindomo, who is so diminutive that she usually doesn’t fit into the frame, so all we see is the top of “Suzu head.” She hates it when someone treats her like a child. See my review of the second Seitoyaku Yakuindomo film here.
