The summer anime season is now almost a month gone, with most of us having already decided which series we’re going to be following for the next three months. That doesn’t mean that we can’t look forward to the next season, however, which is why we’re bringing you all the details of the upcoming vampire astronaut series, Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu.
Just a warning, get comfortable because the staff unleashed a downpour of information.
Airing this October, here’s what we know so far; the director will be Akitoshi Yokoyama at the relatively new studio Arvo Animation (who has only produced two other series besides this one). He’ll be working off scripts written by the original creator, Keisuke Makino, and character designs provided by Hiromi Kato.
In the light novels, the setting is a fictional world that has two superpowers and — after fighting a long war against each other — they are now locked in a space race, with each wanting to be the first to send a manned mission into the skies above. The main character in Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu is a backup astronaut candidate named Lev (played by Kouki Uchiyama) and his vampire companion Irina (played by Megumi Hayashibara) who is being used as a test subject. Both of them want to get into space for their own reasons, but will these reasons bring them closer together? The light novel series has been running since December 2016 and has six volumes in print in Japan as of March 2021.
Also filling out the cast are the following (character names first):
Mikhail Yashin: Satoshi Hino
Roza Plevitskaya: Mikako Komatsu
Anya Simonyan: Hina Kino
Slava Korovin: Takaya Hashi
Lieutenant Victor: Masaki Terasoma
Natalia: Kikuko Inoue
Fjodor Gergiev: Kenichi Ogata
Lyudmila Halrova: M.A.O
Narrator: Hiroki Touchi
Finally, we can also confirm that ALI PROJECT will perform the opening theme song “Hi no Tsuki” (Scarlet Moon) while singer-songwriter Chima will perform the ending theme song titled “Arifureta Itsuka” (Everyday Someday).
