Yuri and her friends face a strong enemy attack group led by Policewoman Mask and Aikawa’s secret weapon.
Episode 11 – “I AM Justice!”
Hmm.
High Rise Invasion did an important thing last episode during Rika’s interrogation scene with Yayoi. His stray observations, that Yayoi talked like a much older lady than her claimed age of eighteen years old, was the key foreshadowing for two developments in this episode.
The first one was how much a mask can change someone’s body. We knew already from earlier in the High Rise Invasion season that masks affect brain chemistry and neurology, allowing for brainwashing, altered memories, enhanced reflexes, and super strength to match those quick movements. However, everyone we’ve seen using those new powers didn’t have any changes made to their physiques. That Speedo Mask was already a huge, muscular behemoth before he put on the mask.
Or so we thought. High Rise Invasion introduced the Archangel character who found an angel mask with a red cross on it. Whether he put that on thereafter he put it on, or it was like that previously, we don’t know. What we do know is that the mask’s powers instantly bulked up his muscles and skeleton, turning a scrawny chuunibyou into a hulking specimen.
The Archangel’s sudden transformation of height and breadth allowed us to believe High Rise Invasion‘s shocking revelation that an eighteen-year-old bombshell like Yayoi could have an eight- to ten-year-old son in Uzuki. The shock the story wants us to have is that the good guys can’t kill Policewoman Mask because they need to save a boy’s mother but somehow still prevail over the murderous group of Masks. That’s a great cliffhanger leading into High Rise Invasion’s season finale.
Heh.
The Netflix splash screen is more literal than usual. Did more bodies fall from skyscrapers, or did characters make it down to the ground? Continuing from High Rise Invasion’s last episode, Yuri lays to rest the poor beheading victim. Oh no. Yuri faces the bonk. She should eat something. Creepy Photographer Mask relays the location of a new God-Candidate to Aikawa. Yuck. He became Super Creepy Photographer Mask because he wanted head pats from Aikawa. The more compatible is an Angel with his God-Candidate, the stronger and more intelligent he becomes. He picked a great moment to evolve since Yuri has depleted energy levels now. Yuri impressively dodges all those knife throws.
Oh good. Mayuko had enough of that guy’s crap. Yuri keeps providing the inadvertent yuri in High Rise Invasion. Ho. This is the first time Yuri heard Aikawa’s name. Rika had been wildly successful in keeping those two unaware of each other. Ah. The Netflix splash screen refers to Creepy Photographer’s fever dream of Masks killing each other in the famous Shibuya scramble crossing.
Aikawa wants to send an assassination crew against Yuri and her God-Candidate friends. We can expect him to send Yayoi and Speedo Mask, but who is this Archangel? A flashback shows him leave a gory path of mass killing with a huge steel club.
Adorable. Kuon drools all over Sniper Mask as she sleeps on his lap pillow. Rika does not have an enjoyable nap with Yayoi. He did knock himself unconscious in the last High Rise Invasion episode, so he only has himself to blame. Yayoi is not happy with Speedo Mask’s extracurricular activities. And we can understand her ire since one of Rikuya’s Angels found him outside a key location. I’m not confident that Aikawa would be in the same building.
Yayoi has her own memories of the carnage Archangel used to wreak. Huh? What does that mean? Does Archangel’s steel club become hot enough to melt other metal weapons? He talks like a chuunibyou. “The Complete Warrior of Justice!” Aikawa convinced Archangel that his intentions were not evil, long enough for him to seal away the mask’s power. That’s an explicit admission from High Rise Invasion that he’s evil, you know. Hoh, man. Look at him now! China Mask gathered good intel for Rikuya.
Meanwhile, Yuri isn’t scared of Sniper Mask anymore. Isn’t as scared? Rika’s lodgings aren’t as comfortable as Kuon’s. Hahaha! What a nerd! Little chuunibyou Archangel shouts he’s going to “annihilate evil for justice!”
Hohoho! Yuri received the location of Rika and she’s too excited. So is Sniper Mask! Dr. God-Candidate says he couldn’t get any information from Creepy Photographer Mask because Aikawa put a strong barrier on his inner mind. That Aikawa guy toggled a good amount of the switches from his Mouthless Mask. At least the doctor unlocked a new power. He can now freeze an Angel for a moment. That should be important to know for the final High Rise Invasion episode.
Oh, Kuon. She’s so in love with Sniper Mask. Last battle preparations. Yuri washes her clothes, but did anyone stitch up that rip up the side? I hope not. Haha! Both couples help their loved ones put their tops on!
Here we go, here we go! High Rise Invasion God-Candidate Battle Start! Sniper Mask recognizes Yayoi as the one who put the mask on him. Ah! Whoa! Uzuki recognizes Yayoi too! As his mother! Sniper Mask can’t shoot her now. Har. Speedo Mask just threw Small Fry Archangel across the bridge. Aikawa will release his limiters soon. Grrl Power! There it is! An overly complicated code. Aikawa thinks he’s smarter than he is. Anyway, this seven-beat countdown is a fine way for High Rise Invasion to show us where are the pieces on the chessboard before all hell breaks loose. The Complete Warrior of Justice is complete again!
See? Aikawa knows he’s evil. He used himself as bait to make Archangel kill everyone in his way to get to him. Archangel is stupid, though. Why would an evildoer tell the truth about his location? Oh well. This champion of justice is more brawn than brain. Yuri makes Mayuko go after Archangel, but Mayuko won’t forgive her if she dies. Yuri powers up too. She has a grudge against Speedo Mask. Cliffhanger!
The complete season High Rise Invasion streams on Netflix.
