You read the headline correctly! Humble Bundle is offering an enormous collection of yaoi manga for just $25.
Partnering with Media Do, the collection of e-books is offered for purchasing all for a charity drive for Stop AAPI Hate, a social movement to bring awareness and put an end to hate crimes targeting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, while also providing resources and needs to those affected by hate crimes. This has become an increasing issue in western nations ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began in Spring 2020.
Over thirty titles are up for grabs! We’ve already sampled a few of what’s to offer and quite a few made the full purchase well worth it.
A Love Story Between My Boss and I
A personal favorite from the collection. A Love Story Between My Boss and I is about an openly gay office worker who, although being comfortable with himself, finds it challenging to maintain healthy and genuine friendships with his coworkers for fear of potential rumors or misunderstandings if he gets too friendly with anyone.
Absolute Obedience
Not to be confused with the BL visual novel of the same name, this is the longest series in the bundle, and also the kinkiest. Absolute Obedience tells of the seductive acts of a man named Riku who is a competitive billiards player and a design student. Down on his luck and with his family’s health crippling, Riku makes a deal and enters servitude to Shoutou, a lust-crazed and rich man who sponsors cancer treatment to Riku’s father.
Humble Bundle is offering 31 chapters of this title in the highest tier.
Where That Love Went
Cross-dressing kink? Urban legends? Delicate, more contemporary art style? Got you covered! Where That Love Went takes place in an ocean town, opening with a legend about a lighthouse. It is said that if you throw a picture of yourself and your crush from the lighthouse into the ocean then you and that person will be together forever.
When a high school teacher finds himself caught between concealing one of his students and also having to “play the girlfriend role” for a coworker, the crazy love triangle becomes a bizarre and comical story with an endearing ending.
Love Only You
A shorter one-shot volume, and a little on the cliched side, but it serves as a nice palate cleanser. It’s the story of two college students who fall in love at first sight. One of them: out-going, not shy to give hugs or small embraces, and friendly to everyone. The other? Shy, a little crude, easily annoyed, and struggling to understand his feelings for his friend.
Canon of Youth
This is a slightly shorter one-shot than other volumes in the bundle, but one that has a lot to it. When he goes to his high school reunion, Hanada finds himself in a slump, depressed, and longing to go back to his “glory days” in the high school brass band. As an adult, he finds that his life is worthless and boring compared to his youthful days, now taking over his family’s factory. His old bandmate, Hashizaki, has since become a confident, handsome, and popular host in Tokyo.
After a drunken evening together, Hashizaki takes up a part-time job in Hanada’s family factory and their relationship begins to blossom. Through it all, Hanada learns that although his present life isn’t as dazzling and exciting as his high school days, it is still valuable, and should be celebrated more than he could imagine.
A Tempest of Cage
A period piece taking place in roughly the 1920s, A Tempest of Cage deals with family matters, and the pressure to uphold the family tradition. When a young man named Takahisa decides not to inherit his family’s business and instead runs away with his lover, Kai, his fragile health leads to an untimely and sudden death. Several years later, Kai and Takahisa’s younger brother, Yoshihisa, return to the family’s summer mansion for a vacation, and in doing so uncover what really happened all those years ago.
The Humble Bundle sale will be ongoing for another two weeks and has already raised nearly $50,000.
