Oral Lessons With Chii-chan is a nukige starring Muroto Kouta, henceforth known as Kou-chin, as that’s what you’ll hear time and time again, moaned, groaned, and whispered as you play through this visual novel.
As it’s a nukige this review is inevitably NSFW.
The premise of Oral Lessons With Chii-chan is simple. Kou-chin is a smart guy, top of his classes, and one day he’s heading home from school and finds the school’s rumored slut and prostitute, Shiina Chieri, waiting outside a convenience store on his route. Chii-chan, as everyone knows her, is a gyaru, a bleached blonde girl with an all-over tan — which you get to find out is really ALL over. Outside the store Kou-chin pervs on Chii-chan, drawn in by the fact he can see her panties as she crouches on the pavement. Then the story begins.
Story
The story is the main draw of this visual novel. Chii-chan is an idiot, but wants to do better in school, so she conscripts Kou-chin to help her study. She convinces him in classic eroge fashion: by offering anything-but-penetrative-sex as payment. But despite Oral Lessons With Chii-chan being full of sex — Chii-chan loves blowjobs, if the title didn’t give that away — this visual novel has a lot in common with more story-driven games. In fact, the story beats hit similarly to more sex-shy games like IxSheTell, progressing like a single-route romance visual novel, just with lots of hot CGs filling in for other-girl troubles.
The main weakness of the story is that there aren’t really any other characters. Nobody but Chii-chan gets a drawn bust, and her friends in school are hand-waved as Girl A and Girl B, the classic visual novel styling for invisible characters. Even Kou-chin’s best friend doesn’t get a color to differentiate his speech, the clear difference between important characters and extras.
The story relies on the relationship between Kou-chin and Chii-chan. Chii-chan is in a serious relationship with a boyfriend and only considers vaginal sex and kissing to be cheating, thus the plot. This leads to various sexy hijinks and boundary-pushing throughout. The sexy scenes push ahead through an underlying narrative that, while not deep, is real — presenting the struggles of Chii-chan to do better when everyone has no expectations for her, the pitfalls of a young adult having a relationship with a much older partner, and other stories that I won’t spoil.
Art and Other Design
Oral Lessons With Chii-chan stars one woman, but from her rare gyaru style, to her ravenous horniness, she does her best to leave you satisfied with her performance. Given the title, it’s no surprise that Chii-chan’s oral efforts get the most emphasis. Her lips, tongue, cheeks, and eyes are all well-detailed, and styled to draw attention in the various scenes — sometimes it seems like her tongue or lips are the star. The CGs are quite good overall, though one or two are a bit boring and there is a little repetition to fill in all the blowjobs Chii-chan hands out. It is the sheer variety that makes up for any flaws, there are a ton of scenes and playing through Oral Lessons takes longer than, say, Succubus Farm did. Partly because of the large number of scenes, partly because of the story.
Other design elements are functional. Menus are easy to navigate. The save slots are plentiful. The background music is chill, so chill that I ended up forgetting what it sounded like, but checking for this article I found it to be calming — the kind of music that can’t distract you if it tries.
The voice actress deserves special credit. She sold Chii-chan’s horniness and perversity, and had to make a lot of different oral sounds, definitely more than the typical visual novel expects. She even makes Chii-chan a clear air-head. Really, good work.
Conclusion
Oral Lessons With Chii-chan is a straightforward visual novel from concept to story, but it blends romantic and nukige visual novel features well, and provides lots of content to make it worth your dollars.
