Capcom vs. Tezuka Exhibition to Run in Tezuka Museum

Capcom Tezuka ExhibitIf you’re a fan of video games and manga and you plan on visiting the Hyogo region of Japan at some point within the next six months, you’ll want to clear a couple of hours from your schedule to check out this special exhibit.

The official Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum located in Takarazuka in Hyogo prefecture has revealed details of their 81st exhibition, which will run from October 23rd, 2020 until February 23rd, 2021 (or, as the official website states, Reiwa 2 to Reiwa 3). Collaborating with game studio Capcom (who are already busy promoting traffic safety), the exhibit will feature characters from Tezuka’s library as drawn by Capcom artists including Astro Boy, Princess Knight, and Black Jack as well as characters from Capcom’s library as drawn by artists from Tezuka Productions.

In addition to this, there will be a special history of Capcom exhibit revealed, though details on that part of the exhibition are still a little scarce. The museum promised that they will reveal more details about the exhibits within the exhibition in mid-October.

Born in November 1928 in Osaka prefecture, Osamu Tezuka would eventually be dubbed “The God of Manga” and likened to the Japanese equivalent of Walt Disney. It is no understatement to say that without his influence on Japanese pop culture, it is doubtful that anime and manga would be in the position that they are today.

The creator of such classic works including Astro Boy, Princess Knight, Black Jack, Kimba the White Lion, Phoenix, and many others, Tezuka revolutionized Japanese pop culture with his creations and all manga artists owe him a debt of gratitude.

Upon his death in 1989 from stomach cancer, Tezuka received many posthumous awards and the above-mentioned museum was erected in his honor so that his legacy as one of the greatest creative artists ever could live on for future generations.
