English dubbed anime series often take quite a while to make it to the States. Due to current events, there are several series that won’t make it to air until at least next year. One such series that isn’t having an issue is Fire Force, created by Atsushi Ohkubo of Soul Eater fame. While season 2 has begun recently streaming from Japan on the Crunchyroll and Funimation platforms, the English dub isn’t all that far behind. Toonami has announced that the season 2 English dub of Fire Force will make its way onto Toonami’s schedule on October 24th of this year. The programming block will also have a partial marathon of season 1, starting from Episode 15, on August 8th.
That’s an outstanding turnaround for an English dub, especially with it being so close to the premiere of the season in Japan. Luckily, fans of the dub won’t have to worry about whether or not this season of the show is good or not, as several outlets have already confirmed the reception for the second season has been positive so far. For those fans wanting a sneak peek at what the season has in store for our intrepid fire-fighting, demon-hunting crew, Funimation has the first two dubbed episodes of season 2 available to stream now.
For those unfamiliar with Fire Force, or who just want to get started with season 1, the story’s current synopsis is as follows:
Terror has paralyzed the clockwork metropolis of Tokyo! Possessed by demons, people have begun to burst into flame, leading to the establishment of a special firefighting team: the Fire Force, ready to roll on a moment’s notice to fight spontaneous combustion anywhere it might break out. The team is about to get a very unique addition: Shinra, a boy who possesses the unique power to run at the speed of a rocket, leaving behind the famous “devil’s footprints” (and destroying his shoes in the process). Can the Fire Force discover the source of this strange phenomenon and put a stop to it? Or will the city burn to ashes first?
