Symphogear XD Unlimited Game Launches With Attack on Titan Collaboration

What if you combined the hot-blooded, over-the-top action of Kamen Rider with a dash of magical girl and…High School Musical? This is the age-old question that was answered when the anime Symphogear debuted back in January of 2012. The series focuses on young girls who use the power of their singing to fuel their insane mechanical weaponry and wild special attacks, and the show has continued to run ever since with a plethora of sequel seasons. The series has come to grow into an impressive multi-media hit, with Bushiroad developing a Japanese-only mobile game for the series in 2017 titled Symphogear XD Unlimited. As of today, though, fans and newcomers alike can experience the game for themselves, as well as a special launch-day collaboration event with another iconic action series – Attack on Titan.

Launched on iOS and Android worldwide earlier this month, Symphogear XD Unlimited lets you relive the events of the anime through the lens of a party-based RPG battle game. You’ll recruit all of your favorite characters from across the entire anime, with each heroine sporting multiple forms and special attacks based on their various upgrades and iconic abilities from each season. During the currently running Symphogear XD UNLIMITED × Attack on Titan collab, titled Titan Symphony, you’ll be able to recruit limited-time versions of main characters Tachibana Hibiki and Kazanari Tsubasa that see them performing special attacks alongside characters from Attack on Titan. Hibiki will be able to perform a unique move with Eren Jaeger’s titan form, while Tsubasa teams up with Levi Ackerman for a devastating special attack.

Bushiroad describes the game:

This work is a Symphonic Battle RPG that faithfully recreates the world of the Symphogear series. There are over 100 and counting newly created illustrations for the game! Additionally, the game includes many exciting character songs from the original work that serve to enhance the flashy battles! It’s a game that can appeal not just to existing fans, but newcomers as well.

As of now, nine unique characters from the Symphogear anime series are playable in-game – Hibiki Tachibana, Tsubasa Kazanari, Chris Yukine, Kirika Akatsuki, Shirabe Tsukuyomi, Miku Kohinata, Serena Cadenzavna Eve, Kanade Amou, and Maria Cadenzavna Eve. Other characters from the series are available in the form of candidate and support cards, which you’ll equip into your deck before battle to boost your combat capabilities. As you progress through the game, you’ll also unlock new songs from each character that you can perform during battle for special effects. The opening theme song of the game, “Unlimited Beat,” is performed by Nana Mizuki.
