Fire Force is continuing to dominate the charts and the popularity rankings as one of the biggest anime airing right now. The series birthed from the mind of Soul Eater creator Atsushi Ōkubo has been grabbing the attention of countless anime fans for its gorgeous artwork, incredible characters, and unique world. It’s seen enough success to get an impressive amount of official merchandise, with Good Smile Company putting out a series of gorgeous Fire Force figures slated for release next year in March 2020. They aren’t done yet, though, as the prolific figure production company is putting out even more products for Fire Force fans to empty their wallets over. The latest is sure to please fans of all things tiny and adorable, as Good Smile Company has officially announced a Nendoroid figure of Fire Force protagonist Shinra Kusakabe which is now available for pre-order on J-List!
Nendoroids are a long-running line of figures from Japanese toy manufacturer Good Smile Company. The company is known for a few different types of releases, but they’re all major successes that have made them the biggest name in collectible figures. Each month, they regularly release over a dozen scale figures. These large, premium statue-like toys render your favorite anime and video game characters in exquisite detail, and at an equally premium price.
For something slightly more affordable, there’s the incredibly popular “Figma” line. Every month, Good Smile Company releases a new selection of these high-quality posable figures. At around half the price of their scale figure releases, you get a slightly smaller character with a huge amount of posable articulation, a display base, and an assortment of alternate faces and hands to get the exact pose you want. They even come with all of the most memorable accessories or attack effects that the character could need to be able to accurately replicate their most iconic scenes on your shelf.
Nendoroids, meanwhile, are very similar to Figma releases. The only major difference is that every Nendoroid figure is smaller in stature and rendered in an adorable chibi art style. Still, they are impressively poseable and include extra faceplates and hands as well. Good Smile Company has been putting out Nendoroids since 2008, and today, they release nearly 30 new figures each month.
Their Nendoroid of Fire Force protagonist Shinra Kusakabe has all of the bells and whistles you’d expect, featuring a huge variety of faceplates and accessories. His default face is a stern and serious expression, giving the fire fighting hero an air of focus and determination.
If you want to, though, you can swap that faceplate out for his iconic smile. This demonic grin is usually sported by Shinra when he’s under a lot of pressure or feels incredibly nervous. He can’t help his nervous tick of busting out an intimidating, devilish grin, and now you can have him sporting that grin on your figurine shelf.
You can also put on a faceplate that gives Shinra a wide-eyed look of intensity as his mouth hangs open in a screaming gesture. This kind of faceplate is great for a variety of action-oriented poses, which are easily achievable thanks to the sturdy base and back-mount that all Nendoroids come with.
You’ll also definitely be tempted to put your Fire Force hero into a dynamic action pose thanks to all of the fire accessories included with this Nendoroid. Shinra Kusakabe’s iconic flaming feet jets are available for you, letting you put them onto the adorably tiny bare feet of your Nendoroid to simulate his dynamic high-flying abilities from the original anime. If you’d rather go for a more combat-focused pose, you can swap the feet jets out for a set of billowing, flaming fire effects that emulate the combat abilities he uses.
There are just as many interchangeable options for his hands, as well. you can bust out a joint pair of hands to recreate the iconic praying hand-gesture from Fire Force, if you so wish. Alternatively, you can give Shinra individual hands where he’s rocking the devil horns for a dynamic and powerful action pose. Or, you can keep things simple with regular open-palm hands and closed fists that work well with any variety of poses.
Fire Force started out back in 2015 with an impressive run in the Weekly Shonen Magazine. Published by Kodansha, the manga has managed to amass an impressive seventeen full volumes as of July 2019. It was also in July that the anime adaptation of the series premiered, produced by Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure anime icons David Production. Despite a rocky start after making the decision to delay the airing of some episodes and edit further ones in response to the deadly Kyoto Animation arson attack, Fire Force has managed to maintain momentum and become a huge hit with anime fans this season.
