First announced in July, Toonami is slated to premiere the English dub of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba later this fall. For those unfamiliar with the series, it tells the story of a kind boy named Tanjiro who loses everyone in his family except his sister Nezuko to demons. Unfortunately for Tanjiro, Nezuko has been turned into a demon as well. Now Tanjiro must become a Demon Slayer not only to protect Nezuko from other Demon Slayers but also in the hopes of returning Nezuko to her human form.
The series has been wildly popular since its release, in part due to its gorgeous art, fast-paced action sequences, and the adorableness of Nezuko.
While there’s no word on the cast list so far for the dub, we do know that the season will have the same 26 episode run as Japan, though English audiences will start the season just after it ends in Japan as the anime’s last episode is scheduled to air by the end of September. As Season 1 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba wraps up, fans all over have been clamoring for a Season 2, but it looks like producer Ufotable has been having some financial issues which could put the future of the anime in jeopardy. As we’ve talked about before, producing an anime can sometimes be a risky endeavor, especially for certain companies over others. Let’s hope Ufotable gets this ironed out soon, as Demon Slayer’s English dub is certain to bring in a whole new legion of fans to the series.
While you’re waiting for the premiere, J-List has tons of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba merch to tide you over, including plush keychains, pins, Nendoroid figures, and even a special prize center figure of Tanjiro made by Bandai! Show your love for best girl Nezuko (or any other character), and get ready for the premiere of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba when it releases on October 12th.
