The new anime season is upon us and as usual, I’m trying to watch a dozen or more shows at once, to see which are worth recommending to J-List customers. At the start of a new anime season, we never know what hidden gems and surprise waifus will be waiting for us, but whenever a show starts generating buzz on the Internet immediately, I know it’s probably got lots of fan service. This time it’s the extremely sexy Nande Koko ni Sensei Ga!?, aka Why the hell are you here Teacher!?
It’s the story of an everyday Japanese high school student named Satou who manages to find himself in sexy situations with his demonic teacher, Kojima-sensei. This includes entering a stall in the boy’s bathroom to find her using it because the girl’s bathroom was being cleaned, resulting in a sexual encounter for both of them. Later, the teacher catches a cold, and Satou is called upon to give her medicine in a certain place that’s on its way to becoming a standard trope in anime. Someday the “suppository episode” will be as common as swimsuit fan service or school culture festival episodes are today.
Why the hell are you here Teacher!? follows a 12-minute format, which is just about right for this kind of show: long enough to establish a connection with the characters, but not so long that it gives viewers time to re-think their life, and why they’re spending it watching such a trashy (but fun) show. It’s similar to other late-night ecchi short series you probably didn’t watch, like My Matchmaking Partner Is My Student and a Troublemaker, about a teacher who finds the man she’s become engaged to is actually her student, who’s become obsessed with her, or 25-sai no Joshikousei, about a woman who’s asked to impersonate her younger sister and return to high school, where she ends up having more sexy times than Makoto from School Days.
