Is there any breed of dog more synonymous with the world wide web than the faithful Shiba Inu? This fun and fluffy dog breed has been around for ages, especially in Japanese households. In recent years, though, the advent of social media and meme culture has skyrocketed these unassuming fluffy friends into Internet stardom. From Shibas getting awkwardly stuck behind gates in Japanese suburbs to the unassuming pup Kabosu being turned into the infamous “doge” meme, the unassuming little Inu has become a cultural icon.
Now, Shiba Inus have become such a massive hit that the Tokyo-based capsule toy company Qualia has decided to permanently embed them in capsule toy history. Their latest line of vending machine figures has made the Shibu Inu the focus in a series of tiny figurines. These figurines won’t show the dogs balancing plates on their heads or perching elegantly on top of your coffee cup, though.
All of these figures are just literally taking a piss.
In the “Peeing Dogs Mascot Figure” collection, you can obtain one of six different figures depicting an elegant male Shiba Inu unleashing a powerful stream of potent grade-A dog piss. The figure catches him in the middle of the act, as if someone stormed into the room out of nowhere and froze the poor peeing puppy in fright. Even the stream of pee, modeled in scarily accurate detail, has been frozen in time for your… admiration?
The first pair of variants feature the classic golden-yellow Shiba Inu unleashing his beast with a vivid stream of puppy pee. If you want a dog figurine that’s been a little too hydrated, the 2nd version replaces the yellow stream of pee with a clear blue jet of piss.
If the darker Shibas are more up your alley, the next pair of variations features a black coat Shiba Inu in an identical pee-oriented action pose. This one, also, comes with a clear blue variation. Notice the powerful positioning of the lifted puppy leg. The way his tail curls up as he gives in to the power of nature and unleashes his doggy urine for the world to see. No question about it, folks; this dog is pissing.
The third variant lets Japan’s second-most famous breed of dog, the golden-brown Akita Inu, take the spotlight. Again, same pose. Same stream. Same piss. C’est la vie.
Some of the highlights of the figure, as pointed out by Qualia themselves on the official packaging, include the satisfied yet far-off look in the eyes of the Shiba Inu as it relieves itself. Furthermore, the toy manufacturer points out that these Shiba and Akita toys are perfect for pairing with other figures. Maybe you want to complement your beautiful $400 Fate/GO Saber figure with a golden Shiba Inu taking a piss on her foot. Or perhaps the perfect accessory for your meticulously posed Eren Jaeger Figma is an Akita Inu unleashing a potent stream of pee on his leg.
Whatever your preference, or however you want to use them, these Peeing Dogs Mascot Figures are available now in capsule toy vending machines all over Japan. They’re priced at a reasonable 300 yen, which works out to about $2.80 in American doubloons.
