I’ve said this before and will continue to say it out loud with a complete lack of irony. Uma Musume makes me happy. At first, it was enough just knowing that fans were getting a third television series, but now that we know the exact premiere date, things just got very real.
Premiering on October 4th (which means it will face stiff competition), the promotional video above revealed just enough to whet the appetites of its loyal fanbase. While it’s obvious we’re getting a new main character named Kitasan Black (and some supporting ones as a bonus), it’s also nice to see that fans will see familiar faces.
Additionally, fans can rest assured that the third season of Uma Musume is still in the same hands as the most recent season. This means Studio KAI will continue to produce the animation with Kei Oikawa as the director and series composition from Shingo Nagai, who joined in the second season.
The Premise of Uma Musume
Longtime anime viewers are long past the point of disbelief about this series and the origin of horse girls. If you’re a newer fan or just found a way to not hear about the primary Uma Musume series or any of its spinoffs at any point within the last five years (Has it really already been five years? Time is soup.), I urge you to at least give it a chance when it comes around again in October.
Uma Musume has already proven itself as a property with staying power. Having produced three television seasons and many OVAs and ONAs, Uma Musume continues to tell captivating and compelling stories that push emotional boundaries in the best ways. You can scoff all you want at the idea of these horse girls running in races and performing as idols, but try to watch season one without feeling Special Week’s struggle pull you in.
While I am worried about this series not appearing as shiny compared to some of the other blockbuster fall series, I feel confident that those who give this season a chance will find their time well rewarded.
Speaking of being rewarded, don’t you think that you deserve a reward? Such as maybe this shiny Rice Shower Nendoroid?
