Tougen Anki A Demon Take Revenge in 2025

The battle between demons and those who would hunt them continues. Tougen Anki: Dark Demon of Paradise puts a new spin on this timeless tale. The Oni who threaten humanity may not be quite that evil, and the Momotaro who hunt them to protect humanity aren’t very benevolent. We’ll see how their centuries-long battle ends when this anime series premieres sometime in 2025. Let’s enjoy the brief teaser trailer until then.

Yura Urushibara released the original Tougen Anki manga series on June 11th, 2020. Akita Shoten has since published twenty volumes in Weekly Shonen Champion.

Our lead Oni and two of his Oni friends are as follows:

Shiki Ichinose — Kazuki Ura (Osamu Rojihara from Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens). Shiki is an Oni raised by a Momotaro. His power awakened when he saw his adopted father cut down by another Momotaro.
Naito Mudano — Hiroshi Kamiya (Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura). Naito is an instructor at an academy dedicated to teaching Oni to safely harness their powers.
Jin Kogasaki — Kotaro Nishiyama (Bellote from Overlord). Jin is the son of a Momotaro who severely abused him in his youth. He attends Naito’s academy.

Tougen Anki Hunts the Hunters

The Oni and Momotaro have been at war for centuries. The Oni wield their very blood as a weapon and let loose on all around them. The Momotaro wield strange black particles to combat the Oni and save humanity. That’s the official line. In reality, the Oni seclude themselves to control their power, though the Momotaro pursue them as threats regardless.

Shiki Ichinose’s adoptive father, Tsuyoshi, raised him. Though he started life in a trash bin and possessed Oni blood, Tsuyoshi — a skilled Momotaro — raised him with love. Tsuyoshi went on the run from his former comrades to protect Shiki. It took them seventeen years, but the Momotaro discovered Tsuyoshi and the Oni boy he raised. In the heat of battle, Shiki’s Oni blood awakened.
