Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Begins the Harvest in July

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin (Tensui no Sakuna-hime) finally has an anime adaptation! This beloved video game mixes farming and demon-slaying in perfect harmony. Sakuna’s antics have led to a little disaster in the celestial Mihashira Capital. We’ll see what consequences she faces when this anime series premieres on July 6th, 2024. We can enjoy the brief teaser trailer and the full trailer until then.

Edelweiss published the original Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin video game on November 12th, 2020.

Our favorite goddess and a couple of her divine friends are as follows:

Princess Sakuna — Naomi Oozora (Hana Uzaki from Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!, Charlotte Anana from One Piece). A childish goddess who caused a bit of a mess in the celestial realm.
Kamuhitsuki — Miwa Kohinata (Art Director from Psycho-Pass). The leading goddess who rules over all Yanato and those who reside there.
Princess Kokorowa — Rika Kinugawa (Narita Brian from Uma Musume: Pretty Derby). A high-ranking goddess who presides over inventions.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Harvests Fields and Slays Demons

Sakuna is the daughter of a god of war and a goddess of harvests. As such, she has all the potential to do great things, and her high-ranking status reflects this. However, she’s a spoiled, childish girl who wears her best friend and the high goddess thin. Her luck finally runs out when a small group of humans escape prison and run for the safest place they can find: Yanato, the celestial realm of the gods.

A brief scuffle breaks out between Sakuna and the humans. She is, after all, just trying to get the humans back home. However, a fire starts, and things get progressively worse. The goddess who rules over all gods, Kamuhitsuki, holds Sakuna responsible and tasks her to create a safe zone on Hinoe Island, the Isle of Demons. The humans sail with her there, and Sakuna must rise up as the goddess she was always meant to be. She must till the fields and find food while slaying every demon she finds.
