A new adventure in the world of Pokémon is about to begin. Pokémon: Paldean Winds (Houkago no Breath / After-School Breath) is short, four-episode series that will upload directly to the official Pokémon YouTube channel starting September 6th, 2023. WIT Studio will be animating this short adventure. Like Pokémon Horizons, this series will also take place in the Paldea region and feature characters that appear in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
Until after school begins, we have a trailer to enjoy. It is available in both English and Japanese.
Besides Nintendo’s usual Pokémon social media pages, such as the English and Japanese Twitter pages, the Japanese version has an actual promotional home page dedicated to Pokémon: Paldean Winds. Trainers can find Key Visuals, character bios, and the plot synopsis. WIT Studio is also a good follow.
The School Assignment of a Lifetime
Pokémon: Paldean Winds sees fresh faces as they meet even fresher faces. Ohara (Shion Wakayama) and her Fuecoco, Aliquis Minako Kotobuki) and his Meowscarada, and Hohma (Marin Mizutani) and his Quaxly are students at Naranja Academy. The academy’s director, Clavell, tasks them with creating a video that highlights just how charming the academy is. However, that is easier said than done, especially with this group.
Each of them has their own issues. Ohara is an aspiring flute player. She’s talented, but the pressure of the stage weighs heavily on her. Aliquis is a battler at heart. However, his numerous defeats at the hands of the region’s champion Nemona have left him determined to turn the tides of battle. Hohma is a reporter, and his work at getting a big scoop has left him with little else, even friends.
Their conflicting personalities and personal issues see them come into conflict. All hope is not lost, though. As they grow up and cooperate with their Pokémon, they might become good friends and complete the assignment.
Pokémon: Paldean Winds Origins
As I said before, whole books have been written about the origins of Pokémon. If you’re reading this, you likely h know about or have heard of Pokémon, Satoshi Tajiri, Junichi Masuda, or Ken Sugimori. Pokémon: Paldean Winds seems somewhat connected with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet because of the location and characters. But the story is unique to the short series.
For those in need of more Pokémon merchandise, and a flimsy excuse to buy some, the J-List shop can help you. The Pikachu Itazura Bank in the Pokémon section is now available for purchase. Hey, everyone needs a bank, yes? You have all that spare change and need a bank to store all of it. It just so happens that this bank is unbelievably cute. A little Pikachu snatches away errant coins.
Are you looking forward to Pokémon: Paldean Winds? Are you disappointed that it’s only getting four episodes? Since WIT Studio is animating Pokémon: Paldean Winds, and they animate Spy x Family, what sort of Pokémon teams do you think Loid, Yor, and Anya would have? Let us know in the comments below.
