No Longer Allowed in Another World (Isekai Shikkaku) is not your typical isekai series. Truck-kun hit the man and his lover, spiriting them away to another world. However, this isekai protagonist lacked cheat-like abilities and did not want to be spirited off anyway. Death is the ultimate adventure for him. We’ll be able to see how it goes when the series premieres sometime in 2024. We have a trailer to enjoy until then.
The trailer itself is mostly animated manga pages. We don’t even know who the animation studio is, so the 2024 release window sounds about right.
A promotional home page for No Longer Allowed in Another World is already up, and the original manga has a home page dedicated to it, with some chapters available to read. The series also has an official Twitter page where fans can find behind-the-scenes information and bonuses, such as the key visual. Also, the original manga artist Takahiro Wakamatsu has his own Twitter page, where he shared a celebratory illustration.
Osamu Dazai Didn’t Ask to be Saved, Truck-kun
No Longer Allowed in Another World follows the renowned author Osamu Dazai. He made plans with a woman he loved to perform a double suicide on June 13th, 1948. Standing by a river with their wrists tied together, they prepared to end their lives. Unlike real-world events, a truck came right at them and ended their lives in that world differently.
Osamu woke up in a church and met a powerful elven maiden named Annette. She greets him as an “adventurer” and explains that their world is in peril and that only he can save it. Osamu argued that he wanted to die with his lover and that the truck interfered with it. He then tried to finish the job, but Annette saved him. She also reviewed his stats and saw that he was weak, with only 1 HP remaining. Such concepts wouldn’t mean anything to Osamu because video games have not been invented yet.
Annette watches Osamu take his leave to find a place to breathe his last. She recalled every other isekai protagonist she had welcomed to the world of Zauberberg and how they all seemed the same. Osamu was the first to actually spark life in her.
Osamu’s following attempt to meet his end was a failure. A cat girl caught by a Death Tree monster requested aid. Instead, Osamu let himself be captured and welcomed the tree’s attempt to suck out his life force. Despite this life-ending ability, the tree withered away, having absorbed Osamu’s poison. Then he concluded that his lover would have also come with him to the new world. Joined by the cute cat girl, Osamu sets out to find her and carry out their double suicide pact. You’d think being surrounded by scantily clad cute girls fawning over him would have changed his mind about the whole thing.
The Man Behind the Isekai
No Longer Allowed in Another World deals with sensitive topics alongside real-world events. The series follows a fictional version of Osamu Dazai, whose real name was Shuji Tsushima. Osamu was a historical person, a famous author born on June 19th, 1909, and sadly took his life on June 13th, 1948, at age 38. Despite writing several influential books during his life, No Longer Allowed in Another World (Isekai Shikkaku) specifically references one book with its title and content.
No Longer Human (Ningen Shikkaku) was published sometime in 1948 and told the story of a self-destructive young man who does not see himself as fit to be a human. It is considered his masterpiece and ranks as the second-best-selling novel in Japan, just behind Natsume Soseki’s Kokoro. Likewise, in the series, Osamu seeks to end his life alongside the girl he likes. No Longer Allowed in Another World is ongoing, so the fictional Osamu might have a happier ending than his real-life counterpart. I mean, the real-life Osamu didn’t have a cute elf and cat girl with him, did he? No, he did not. It’s impossible to be a downer surrounded by cute anime girls.

If you heard “isekai series where the protagonist can’t die and is also surrounded by cute girls” and thought, “Re:Zero,” we did, too. Thankfully, the J-List shop has a lot of good things to scratch that particular itch. The Rem 1/7 Complete Figure from the Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- section is now available.
