A boy genius manages to create slime life as part of a science experiment. They become the best of friends, but the slime girl wants to get closer than that. We’ll see what becomes of this cute science experiment when Puniru wa Kawaii Slime (Puniru is a Cute Slime) premieres sometime in October 2024.
Maeda-kun released the original Puniru wa Kawaii Slime one-shot manga on February 28th, 2019 in Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic. A full serialization began on March 15th, 2022. Shogakukan has since published five volumes in Weekly CoroCoro Comic.
Our boy genius and his slime creation are as follows:
- Kotaro Kawaii — Shuichiro Umeda (Shewbahha from Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!!). An intelligent boy with a talent for creating life in a lab.
- Puniru — Yu Sasahara (Curren Chan from Uma Musume Pretty Derby). Kotaro’s slime creation who has a crush on her creator.
Toho Animation Studio has maintained a home page and a Twitter (X) page to promote Puniru wa Kawaii Slime. You can find more information about the series and the key visuals there. Take note of how cute Puniru is below.
Cherish Your Cute Slime in Puniru wa Kawaii Slime
Kotaro made a sentient slime creature as part of a science experiment in elementary school. Puniru was a cute and friendly penguin-shaped slime. The two of them became fast friends and did almost everything together. Things took a drastic turn several years later when Puniru insisted on still sleeping beside him even after gaining a humanoid form.
Kotaro has grown up and he became conscious of Puniru’s female form. He also has an unrequited crush on his busty school senior Kirara. Their relationship is stuck in a rocky place. Puniru wants to change that, so she tries everything in her power to make Kotaro call her cute, which includes forming a busty figure to entice him. She’ll even fill out his future plans document for him by proposing “Puniruland” where the world over will see how cute she is. Her plans have fallen flat so far.
