As a follow-up to the previous article that was written about stabbing victim Tomita Mayu, her attacker, Iwazaki Tomohiro was sentenced to 14 years and 6 months of prison time.
During the sentencing, Iwazaki apologized to Tomita and her family, promising to learn patience while incarcerated.
Before the attack, it seems that Iwazaki had been sending Tomita message online and when she went to the police about it they didn’t take action because the matter didn’t seem “urgent. Because of this mistake, Tomita was stabbed 34 times by Iwazaki for not “giving a clear answer” to his feelings after returning a gift he sent to her.
