A new magic school series has appeared, though it seems a far more fun school than the last one we looked at. Hero Classroom (Eiyuu Kyoushitsu, or Classroom for Heroes) is pretty self-explanatory: people with supernatural abilities go to school to hone their skills, all to become heroes that save people from the forces of evil.
Studio Actas has released a trailer before the scheduled July 2023 premiere date.
Actas has also set up an official Twitter page, and a promotional home page, to keep fans and potential viewers up-to-date with new information and announcements. Extras, such as the Key Visual below, can be found there.
The School of Heroes
Rosewood Academy was founded by a legendary hero after he defeated the Demon Lord. Its stated goal is to raise future heroes who can protect the innocent from the forces of evil. Rosewood Academy accepts only the very best students. The main character, Blade, voiced by Reiji Kawashima, got in thanks to his friendship with the King. He is a kind and somewhat goofy person, but he’s powerful. Apparently, he used to be even more powerful, but an event diminished his power and changed his hair color.
Blade hopes to make 100 friends in school, and his first is the fiery Arnest Flaming, voiced by Misuzu Yamada, and the wielder of the demon sword Asmodeus. This demon might know the Kamehameha Wave if the trailer is any indication.
Blade also befriends the cool and icy Sophitia Femto, who is voiced by Nao Toyama. She’s a girl from a foreign land and mistakes handholding for a marriage proposal. To her, she and Blade are now engaged.
For magical friends, Kufurin, as voiced by Hina Kino, is a dragon who can appear as a cute human girl. Unlike dragons of the maid variety, she’s a bit on the smaller side and is seen being fed by Blade.
These and other friends, including a doctor who definitely lives up to the sexy doctor archetype, Blade tries to enjoy his school life while fighting strong opponents.
Hero Classroom Origins
Hero Classroom began its term as a light novel series written by Shin Araki and illustrated by Haruyuki Morisawa. Shueisha began publishing the series in their Dash X Bunko imprint in January 2015 and has released thirteen volumes thus far.
In an interesting case, Hero Classroom has been adapted to manga twice. The first, titled Classroom for Heroes: Empress of Flame, which likely took its title from Arnest’s “Empress of Flames” moniker, was illustrated by Takashi Minakuchi as a seinen series. It lasted for one volume, published from February 2015 to August 2015.
After that was shelved, the artist Koara Kishida illustrated the series. Retaining its original Hero Classroom title, Kishida drew the series as a shounen title. Shueisha began publishing their second take at a manga adaptation on September 12th, 2016, and has since put out fifteen volumes for fans to purchase and collect.
If you saw Kufurin in the trailer and prefer plot over justice, J-List has you covered. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have Tohru too covered. The titular maid from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid has a new figure on discount, the Tohru 1/6 Figure Bikini ver.
