One thing that I absolutely love about anime and manga is that it makes me feel like I’ve traveled to distant worlds and met exciting new people… of course, one thing that I absolutely hate about anime and manga is that once it’s done, I’m reminded that I haven’t actually done anything and the ever-increasing flab on my stomach is proof of that. What’s an otaku to do? Go to the gym, of course!
Of course, as a die-hard anime fan, I don’t want to go to some normal gym where no one speaks my language. I want to be catered to in a way that no other gym has ever done before. Enter Shibuya’s One Piece themed Fitness BragMen.
While the gym itself isn’t set to open until next year, you can already see artist representations of what the gym is going to look like. As you can tell, the interior will mimic the aesthetic of One Piece and will feature personal trainers who will be dressed for the part to keep you motivated to become the pirate king… err, meet your fitness goals.

According to the initial report, the gym will also offer special exercise programs that are based on the One Piece world (specific details on those haven’t been disclosed as yet) as well as offering members a special “Pirate rank” based on different cleared objectives such as reaching a target body fat percentage.
What makes this gym so fascinating to me is that this isn’t some cheap cross-promotional project that will disappear after a few weeks or months but a complete and permanent gym that will stay open so long as they can find otaku who want to stay fit!
As mentioned, the gym won’t be open in Shibuya until next year but I’m already ready to show up and break a sweat!
