China has been serious of keeping their social reputation high not only in tourism but also on the World Wide Web. When it’s illegal, you know it’s going to be taken down.
Government regulators of Beijing have recently gone full force and desperate to hunt down people who leak and upload porn and related content like girl’s love, boy’s love, etc. Media such as hentai, doujins, and the related have no escape to this massive takedown.
The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said earlier this week that they have removed around 9,800 accounts in various Chinese social media platforms that upload porn and related media.
Aside from the mentioned, they are also taking down accounts to those who are spreading false news and articles that are against the government as well as those that don’t say something bad about the country. Authorities have also called out popular social media platforms Weibo and WeChat for “irresponsibility” and negligence.
In a report released on November 16, a minimum reward of 600,000 yuan ($86,000) will be given as a reward to those individuals who will report illegal content uploaders. This will be implemented beginning December 1.
