Bangs-chan falls in love with Sensei. He resists her feelings until after she graduates high school. Or did he?
Part 2
Hmm.
Tawawa on Monday gave us the anime equivalent of a flying unicorn: a wholesome love affair story between a teacher and a high school girl. Ecchi anime presents its male audience with sexy female teachers providing “service” to the lead male characters. Think of how often To Love-Ru put Rito into stimulating situations with Tearju-sensei, or how an episode of Maken-ki! forced Takeru and Nurse Aki together for one episode. Why the Hell Are You Here, Teacher!? plays the teacher-student couples for fanservice and comedy as they start dating while the boys are still students. Please Teacher! did the same thing, except with an alien, just like To Love-Ru did. Interviews with Monster Girls handled the relationships between a male teacher and his female students responsibly by making sure nothing immoral happened. But he also didn’t fall in love with any of his students. The love story of how Bangs-chan and Sensei became a romantic couple in Tawawa on Monday is the sweetest age-gap romance I’ve seen in recent memory.
Bangs-chan’s character sells the story well. The talented student ran her attitude hot and cold in Sensei’s presence, keeping him intrigued and attentive throughout her high school years. When Bangs-chan became more playful with Sensei after she caught him in a fit of jealousy and regret, I realized she had been teasing him all this time! That mischievous lilt in her voice sounded familiar, so I checked who her voice actor was in Tawawa on Monday. It did not surprise me that Rie Takahashi is also the voice behind Teasing Master Takagi-san. The way Bangs-chan tricked Sensei into confessing his love for her before the end of graduation day fit the casting choice superbly.
Heh.
Bangs-chan was cold to Sensei in high school. That’s in stark contrast to their lovey-dovey displays in the mornings these days.
Tawawa on Monday starts their story at the beginning. First-year Bangs-chan confessed her feelings to Sensei. The responsible adult refused to reciprocate, but Bangs-chan promised to change his mind before she graduated.
Bangs-chan had it all! Tennis ace and student council president. The boys admired and lusted after her, while the administrators let her keep her bangs as special treatment. They also wanted to keep the boys away from her! What did Sensei think of that?
Ooh. Bangs-chan made her move. Counseling for love advice. Would Sensei be okay with Bangs-chan taking the stairs to adulthood with a boy who confessed his romantic feelings for her? He can’t say it, literally. The Tawawa on Monday voice actor for Sensei only makes reaction sounds. However, Sensei would not like someone taking Bangs-chan away from him! Haha! She caught him letting his true feelings out!
Bangs-chan spent her last year of high school teasing the hell out of Sensei. He held firm. Uh, wait. No, I said that right! Who wouldn’t “hold firm” as a buxom girl whispered her cup size into his ear at point-blank range? Sensei survived until graduation day, but he needs to drink away his regrets and frustration.
Oh? How does Bangs-chan know where Sensei lives? I hope Tawawa on Monday shows us flashbacks of how teasing him in high school led to extra-curricular familiarity. That teasing little devil! Well, she defined graduation day as lasting until midnight on her own. Sensei had the moral victory of holding out until after the graduation ceremony. That was a satisfying happy ending for them both!
Oh, good! Tawawa on Monday finished the credits sequence on the second week. I see nostalgic references to the first season, with Aichan leaping down the train station stairs and Senpai’s cat pawing Kouhai-chan. When do we see Kouhai-chan again? Soon, please!
Artist Kaisen Chuui, who loves drawing busty girls with string panties, illustrated Bangs-chan in the end card.
