Uzaki-chan and Sakurai feel nervous about Christmas coming up. Sakurai finds a surprise at his parents’ house.
Episode 10 – “We Want a Thrill Before Christmas!”
Hmm.
I call shenanigans on Sakurai’s dad! The Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! anime tried to explain it from his perspective. Getting frisky in an empty house made sense for not making his son visit. But when Mrs. Sakurai got pregnant and had an infant daughter, there’s been no frisky business for over a year. Caring for a pregnant lady, then an infant, and diaper patrol is not the environment for sexy times. I don’t buy the elder Sakurai’s story!
Mrs. Sakurai readily believed Mr. Sakurai. That might be based on Shinichi’s personality, so his loner vibe kept him away from home. Perhaps Papa Sakurai acted like Uzaki-chan. He took the tough-love approach of forcing Sakurai to make friends. Meanwhile, Uzaki-chan dragged him into doing stuff with her. But both failed to notice that Sakurai has friends he spends time with at school that he doesn’t bring home. Or how he hangs out with his work colleagues. Uzaki-chan needed to be nosy enough to barge into her senpai’s life to see those parts of life. Maybe Daddy Sakurai did know best.
That still doesn’t explain why he kept the news of his baby sister away from his son. This season of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! makes its characters sit around and talk a lot, so I hope a funny explanation emerges. According to Sakurai’s parents, he takes after both of them for being logical and self-sacrificing. Mrs. Sakurai is the logical one, and Papa Sakurai is the dutiful one, so Mr. Sakurai must have a reason he’s hiding from Sakurai. Or it’s a character defect we’ll eventually see. I’m betting on extreme laziness mixed with the family business.
Heh.
It’s almost time for the Christmas date episode in Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!. Hoho! Uzaki-chan’s psychic friend, Ito, has a boyfriend! Uh. Uzaki-chan will wait a long time if she thinks Sakurai will ask her on a Christmas date. She needs to take the initiative. What is Sakurai thinking about? Uzaki-chan’s mindreading skills are poor, so it’s not about how “special” she is. Oops. Now Uzaki-chan feels self-conscious about expecting Sakurai to act seriously on his “special” feelings. Har! Uzaki-chan’s guardian angel has the same long hair she had in high school. Uzaki-chan has a lot of devil-selves pulling for depravity. Win, Uzaki-Devils, win!
Hahaha! Sakurai was staring at Uzaki-chan because she borrowed his T-shirt! Now she’s mad he didn’t take the top off her! Confession! She likes Sakurai’s smell! Payback time. Uzaki-chan will make Sakurai watch a scary movie! Does he hate those? The Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! anime never showed that before. Scary Kuso Cat. Uzaki-chan played herself. Ha! What? She’s never watched a horror film. Petard and hoisting, some assembly required. At least Sakurai got some soft benefits from her revenge failure.
Here we go. The Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! anime can move the ball forward. Sleepover! Sakurai is so responsible. He got a guest futon after the last time Uzaki-chan stayed over. Sugoi Dekai Bra! Hey! That’s Sakurai’s dad! What does he want?
Neat! Ami and Sakaki are going out for drinks with friends. When will those two get together in Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!? Oh? It’s just Uzaki-chan. Where is Sakurai? Ah. His dad made him come home to visit. Two years! Hasn’t he gone back home in two years? Why? I’m astounded. Sakurai’s mom had another baby at 49 years old. What? Papa Sakurai didn’t tell Shinichi he had a baby sister! What is going on here? Nodoka Sakurai is already eight months old. Papa Sakurai kept his son in the dark about his mom’s pregnancy and childbirth for almost eighteen months!
Ahaha! Shiro Sakurai forced Shinichi to live off campus because he wanted alone time with his mother. Nodoka is the product of their frisky business! That’s a heck of an age gap between brother and sister. 21 years! Good, good. Ami aims to keep the tipsy Uzaki-chan talking about her high school days with Senpai! But that’s next time.
Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! S2 (Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! ω) streams on Crunchyroll and VRV in multiple languages and in Japanese with English subtitles.
