Well, 2019 is winding down fast here in Japan. The year was a great one for J-List, with lots of success in providing fun products from Japan to our many customers around the world. We watched a lot of anime, had a lot of fun interactions with all of you on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and enjoyed ourselves at the summer anime conventions a ton. Thanks for being supportive of J-List all year long!
In Japan, the most important holiday is New Year’s Day, and the entire 年末年始 nenmatsu-nenshi (year end/new year) period is a special time in Japan. Nearly all businesses close from Dec. 28 through January 3, or even January 6th, due to the way the weekends fall this year. During this time, everyone rushes around, cleaning their house (or business) from top to bottom, readying New Year’s decorations, and watching the famous Kouhaku Red and White Song Battle, a huge musical show starring every famous singer in Japan (and some anime seiyu some years). When the new year finally arrives, they do…nothing. It’s extremely important to the Japanese to slow down as much as possible for the first few days of a new year.
Because the entire nation of Japan essentially shuts down for a week during the year end/new year final days of an old year and the first days of a new one, it naturally affects companies like J-List, as the Japanese post office and DHL are closed. We ask your understanding with it comes to shipping days if you make an order during this period.
We’re similarly unable to restock products during the slow year end/new year period, and we always end up running out of stock of many of our signature “naughty” products during this extended slow time. Just order what you need, and if anything has run out of stock, we’ll get it back in quickly once business starts up again in the new year. I did notice we’ve just gotten in a large shipment of the most popular ero toy in J-List’s history, the Gichy Gichy Virgin, if you want to grab one of those, if you want to avoid any shipping delays.
Once again, thanks for being the best customers a company has ever had, and have a great new year!
