The Sentai Filmworks panel at Anime Expo 2019 was short and sweet, barely clocking in at 30 minutes before the hosts opened the floor to questions. After promoting their currently available series, they announced a few new English dubs, including one near and dear to my heart.
Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma‘s third season, stylized as The Third Plate, has been hungry for an English dub since it finished airing last summer. Personally, Food Wars is one of those series that benefits enormously from an English dub and Sentai’s cast, in particular, brings so much joy (and so many fun accents) to the show that I was really eager to see them reprise their roles in The Third Plate. It had been so long I was starting to lose hope it would happen, so I’m very happy to report that it, in fact, will.
The other English dub announcements were Kase-san and Morning Glories and My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Too.
Licensing announcements were Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, a feature film slated for Japanese release in January 2020 and hinted at heavily featuring Bondrewd. As well as Delinquent Hamsters, which I know very little about but appears to be a cross between Cromartie High School and Hamtaro. It is a series of shorts.
For quickly and comfortably delivering a series of exciting content announcements, Sentai Filmworks has been my favorite industry panel at Anime Expo 2019 so far.
