Crystal Maidens is a free-to-play online RTS (Real Time Strategy) browser hentai game, distributed by our friends over at Nutaku, who are known for the very best in free-to-play browser and mobile hentai games. This game is a fully uncensored experience.
In the game, you get washed up on the shore of an island, because Kunak—the game’s main villain—destroyed your boat. As soon as you wake up, the shaman Nuka greets you. She explains that the island is inhabited, but that there is a portal at its center that can summon powerful female warriors, and you need to control it before Kunak uses it. That’s mostly how the story goes. It’s not that strong, just the usual good vs evil plot.
Progress is made via the story campaigns. Pick a chapter, play through each level, and try to earn as many stars and as much loot as possible. Basic stuff that you usually see in a free-to-play game of this kind. However, the gameplay got me hooked. This is a RTS game, and needs more of your attention than an auto-battle JRPG. After you pick your mission, you’ll need to choose four maidens from your collection. These maidens can be either melee, ranged, or support, and each one has their own special active ability to use during battle. This is an RTS, so, once you pick and drop your first maiden, they’ll start running in a straight line right at the enemy, and attack anyone that is in front of them. You can drop your other maidens behind your furthest maiden (never in front) in the play area. During gameplay, you can also pick and drop maidens that are already doing battle. At any time, you can use their special abilities. For example, the shaman attacks with an Area of Effect (AoE) ability that will damage lots of enemies and heal allies. Other characters will have their ability boost their attack damage, and so on. I enjoyed needing to take care of my maidens and keep moving them on the battlefield.
You earn resources and loot at the end of each battle, which includes in-game currency and equipment for your maidens. I like the fact that you can equip your maidens with a bunch of different items, like helmets, armor, boots, and weapons. Gear can also be improved by using other gear to upgrade it. Your maidens will level up normally as they fight battles, but you can increase their stats in a different way… a very naughty way.
Since this is a hentai game, there needs to be some kind of nudity and romance, right? In order to get up-close and personal with your maidens, while improving their stats every time you do so, you’ll need to use crystals. There are different types of crystals, each that fit with different types of maidens. Every time you flirt with your maiden, you’ll unlock a small panel on their stats. Once all panels are unlocked, you’ll see your maiden with one less layer of clothing and a romance short story will begin. At the end of each romance scene, your maiden will have improved stats. When you unlock the last set of panels you’ll finally get some private time with your favorite girl. This will unlock a hentai scene, and finish the romance route with that character.
The girls are amazingly illustrated, and all of them are super sexy. The art style of this game feels Western, but with small Asian touches. Their pin-up style poses are a nice touch. The hentai CGs are not animated, but the art is gorgeous enough that you might not care, and there are some enticing plots that make the hentai sections stand out more. I enjoyed reading them more than the main story of the game.
The most common way to collect your maidens is via gacha. There’s a random drop to it, but, since the game was just released, there are only 15 maidens to collect. You’ll probably get duplicates, but you’ll receive crystals for these. Don’t worry though, you’ll get three free gachas daily, and if you login everyday, you’ll eventually get free maidens via the login bonus reward. There are a bunch of premium gachas in this game, but nothing that you couldn’t get as a casual player. These premium gachas just increase your chance of getting rare equipment and maidens. Other gachas include rare items and crystals, which can be used to reduce the time it takes to romance a girl. There’s also an XP boost option, which increases the experience you receive during game-play.
Another thing I enjoyed in Crystal Maidens is the base building. The main menu has your base in the background in full 3D. Here you can build camps, temples, barracks and all the basic buildings you’ll need in your quest. You can upgrade the buildings as you play. Each type of building gives passive stats to your maidens, making them very useful during combat. This base building mechanic uses in-game currency, and the building process happens in real time. You can only build one thing at a time, but, there is a multi-building perk that you can buy (one-time purchase) in the shop, to increase the growth speed of your base, if you need.
I think Crystal Maidens has a bright future ahead. People who enjoy a more focused experience, without auto-battles, should give this game a try. The hentai scenes are not the main attraction here, but they work as a very good reward for your efforts.
I can see that Nutaku is planning on adding more content to the game in the coming months, so now should be the perfect time to start Crystal Maidens, and train your girls for what’s to come.
