An Amazing 2018 Godzilla Calendar is Released
When I read that Evangelion creator Hideki Anno was going to do a big budget reboot of the classic Godzilla franchise for Toho, no one was happier than me. I’ve been a fan of Anno’s ridiculously precise approach to storytelling since his work on 80s and 90s classics like Gunbuster: Aim for the Top and Nadia of the Mysterious Seas, and knew he’d do a great job. (I didn’t know it at the time, but as a young animator he was tasked with animating the Seven Days of Fire sequences from Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. So he was a badass from very early on.)
The new Godzilla movie is definitely a treat, especially for Evangelion fans, since it contains many Easter eggs for them. And yet, it’s a perfect love letter to the original tradition of Godzilla films, right down to re-using the original soundtrack and famous Godzilla shrieking sound effects for the entire film.
When the 2018 Godzilla calendar came in stock, I asked the J-List staff to take photos of the internal pages so we could make this post and shown everyone how awesome they were. The Shin Godzilla calendar shows lots of visuals from the new film, but also from all the other classics, allowing you to walk through the entire history of the franchise all through 2018. A great gift for someone on your list this year, or you!
We only have six or seven copies of the Godzilla calendar in stock, and they’ll go fast as we approach the new year. Order the 2018 Shin Godzilla calendar at J-List now!
