To those who are looking forward to another Parasite Eve game, the wait might possibly be over.
Recently, video game developer and publisher Square Enix filed a trademark for the franchise at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), which suggests that it might have a comeback in the video game scene soon.
In order for the trademark to be filed, Square Enix must prove that the company has a specific intent to use the trademark. This could be in a form of different media (video games included).
The Parasite Eve video game series made its debut in 1998 via Square Enix and released for the Sony PlayStation. This popular series was the first mature-rated game the company has acquired and the first collaboration of its American and Japanese developers. This was followed by Parasite Eve II in 1999 still for the PlayStation, and The 3rd Birthday in 2010 for the PlayStation Portable.
Regardless if it would be a reboot, remake, or sequel, it’s about time that this franchise deserves a great comeback.
