Sailor Moon is one of the most successful franchises ever in Japan. From the manga, anime, stage plays, movies, and a lot of merchandise of the series, there seems to be no stopping the hype of this awesome magical girl series.
The popularity of the series has gotten hype not just in the anime industry but also in the world of beauty pageants. Yuumi Kato, Japan’s representative for the upcoming Miss Universe 2018 will be dressing up as the popular heroine Sailor Moon as the country’s national costume.
The contestant was proud enough to post pictures of herself wearing the costume on her Instagram account. This is just one of the many outfits she’ll be wearing for this prestigious competition.
Born in Nagoya, Japan and raised in Selangor, Malaysia, Yuumi Kato a is 22-year-old a Japanese model, reporter, and actress. Her modelling career began when she was 19 and currently connected to the Central Japan Model industry. This beauty pageant holder knows around four languages namely: Japanese, English, Malay, and Chinese.
She had a trouble fitting into society after she was asked to stop her formal education and to be sent to a remote island of Malaysia. Life was so hard that she had to live an independent life at an early age supporting both herself and her family. In the end, she was able to conquer them all and showed everyone that she can stand up from all the things that come her way.
As a Miss Universe candidate, her wish is to spread the message of women empowerment as well as supporting children living in poverty.
With that energetic magical girl get-up and winning smile, she is ready to fight not just for love and justice, but also for the crown of this year’s Miss Universe. We wish Ms. Kato and the rest of the lovely candidates of Miss Universe good luck!
The coronation night of Miss Universe will happen on December 17 in Thailand.
