Working for an animation company is tough—deadlines, overtimes, low pay, and fulfilling the expectations of fans are at high levels. However, if your company has an obvious lack of staff and with only a little time to finish one episode, the quality greatly deteriorates.
The current airing anime series My Sister, My Writer (Ore ga Suki na no ha Imoto Dakedo Imoto ja nai) has been infamous in this current anime season due to the obvious problems in its animation quality. Worse is the mistakes are easily distinguished.
The story of My Sister, My Writer anime is centred on a teenage guy who acts as the public face for his younger sister who writes a popular light-novel story of a girl who is greatly devoted to her big brother.
By just the plot alone, the anime series has a great potential to capture otaku audiences. In the end, it seems to have captured the attention of anime fans in a different way.
The male protagonist Yu was drawn and animated in a different way. Some of them are just way off from his original visuals.

The number of unfocused eyes, oddly flat anime faces, and uninspired expressions were a disaster which leads to the point of Twitter users sharing numerous screenshots of the anime.

The worst of all the flops is when the mouth of the protagonist’s sister Suzuka just rips away from her face while she was talking. Creepy.

As of this time the anime staff of the My Sister, My Writer has not released any statement regarding the low-quality production and flaws in their episodes. In the end credits of the anime, however, they seem to be telling us a message that they are definitely having a hard time.

In the highlighted text of the latest episode’s end credits posted by @mad_yn on Twitter shows an animator’s full name 正直困太 which in fact is not a real name. The first two kanji characters 正直 (shojiki) which means “truly” or “honestly”. The remaining kanji 困太 is a slight modification of komatta which means “to be in a difficult situation”. Put those two words together, then you have the message that says that anime staff says “We’re in serious trouble.”
With only four episodes left, let’s hope this anime series at least get a bit of improvement—at least for a bit.
