The Fall 2025 Anime Season Begins! What Shows Will J-List Be Watching?
After the monster anime season that just finished airing, fans might be exhausted from all the amazing anime Japan has been making for us. But there’s no time to rest, because the Fall 2025 anime season is here! There are a mind-blowing 65 new series coming our way this season, not counting eternally-airing shows like Crayon Shin-chan or One Piece, or continuing cours from last season. What hidden gems will we find? Keep reading to find out!
Imouza: My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me!
If a girl teases you, it means she likes you, right? This is the story of Akiteru, who has to interact with his friend’s younger sister, Iroha, though she hates his guts. It’s based on a popular light novel series, and I’m certainly down for some cute imouto romantic action!
The Vampire Who Can’t Suck Properly
Another anime based on a light novel series, The Vampire Who Can’t Suck Properly — or alternately, Li’l Miss Vampire Can’t Suck Right — looks like a super cute show. Tatsuya helps the vampire in her class get past her inability to properly suck humans’ blood.
Hands off: Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun
Kouyou Kotesashi is great at giving massages and dreams of becoming a sports doctor. He doesn’t have much money, so he takes a part-time job as the “dorm mother,” where he’s naturally surrounded by super cute girls.
More Fall 2025 Anime: Shuumatsu Touring: Touring After the Apocalypse
This feels like a mash-up of the super-relaxing Super Cub anime with Shumatsu Train? It sounds like it could really work. Can you imagine visiting beautiful places around Japan, but after the end of the world, so there are no crowds?
Towa no Yuugure: Dusk Beyond the End of the World
We’ve got not one, but two “end of the world” shows in the Fall 2025 anime season. In Towa no Yuugure, high school student Akira Himegami wakes up from cryogenic sleep to a world he no longer recognizes. The city is in ruins, and everything in society has changed. He meets a girl named Yuugure who bears a strong resemblance to his girlfriend Towa. What mysteries does she hold?
Ranma 1/2 Second Season
One problem I’ve long had with Rumiko Takahashi’s works is that they were so popular, they basically ran forever before suddenly coming to an end. Thus, they generally lacked a proper story structure and never gave a satisfying resolution at the end (the glorious exception being my beloved Maison Ikkoku). Imagine if they came up with some kind of compelling point for the new Ranma 1/2 to get to by the end?

More Anime in the Fall 2025 Anime Season: Spy x Family, One Punch Man
A lot of popular shows are getting new seasons this year, including Spy x Family and One Punch Man. This is great news, but some continuations miss the mark, like One-Punch Man S2. Fingers crossed they’ve got the pacing right for these new seasons!

Which Fantasy/Isekai Show Will Break Through in the Fall 2025 Anime Season?
Every season brings a slew of somewhat generic fantasy and isekai series based on novels with super long titles like, I’m a High School Boy and a Successful Light Novel Author, but I’m Being Strangled By a Female Classmate Who’s a Voice Actress and Is Younger Than Me (which really exists). For the Fall 2025 anime season, we have:
- My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I’m Out for Revenge!
- Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill Season 2
- Mushoku no Eiyuu: Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?!
- A Gatherer’s Adventure in Isekai
- The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest
Which of these will stand out with a clever story, or (let’s be honest) generate buzz on social media for having just the right blend of panty shots and bouncing boobs?

Why Do Anime Sometimes Get “Too Many Seasons”?
One reason I love watching anime is that stories are generally finite, with a proper destination that the characters are all moving towards. Sometimes stories start off strong, then wander around, going nowhere. Considering it costs millions to make a full cour of anime, sometimes it would be nice if the creators started out with a story that was worth telling? To Your Eternity started out extremely strong, but eventually ran out of steam. Tales of Wedding Rings had enjoyable waifus — and the Lord of the Rings pun in the title is quite amusing — but is the story compelling enough for a continuation? I feel the same way about Nageki no Bourei, which was so generic that I had to combine it with a similar show for my blog post.
